I think I might legit tear up when I see the first Myth off-collab.
Absolutely agree, in a way its more enticing that we know who they were before Holo because as a few people have said, it really emphasizes their growth.

I'll tear up at the Holo-En off-collab, but I kinda hope they make it a secret and just come out with it some day at random (like the Ame, Ina, Fauna, Mumei, Kronii collab), can't really describe it but the feeling i got from that collab was great and i'd like to get that again.

But someone's roommate will probably leak it so we'll see.

Damn. I think I was invited to one or two when the first purge happened. . . but I was out of commission at the time and the invite expired.

I'll get the seal of disapproval from some of the Nijiknights here (calm yourselves gents I'm on the side of the angels here), I do think Holo's biggest strength is the 'family vibe' that Pippa mentioned in an earlier stream. It isn't magic, they cater and mechanically enforce that.

But, Myth was the pinnacle of that, even taking into account the (now proven to be more shallow than previously thought) perfect-5th gen. I don't think you can really remake this again though.

There is such a mix of personality, personal struggle, skill, and charisma mixed with a perfect timeframe where they could all spend extended off-screen time together while isolated from external pressures and interactions due to the virus of unknown origin. It was the VTuber equivalent of a foxhole. Myth was all they had; they care about each other in a way that you don't see in entertainment, it is actual camaraderie.

I wouldn't have it any other way.
As someone who'd probably be considered a Niji shill (even though I watch both corpos + indies but sure), I'd probably say you're half-right? I wouldn't really say Myth had that "family" vibe in the beginning either, if anything their chemistry was pretty awkward. That said, I did absolutely watch Myth, and was more or less disappointed with Lazulight in the beginning, to the point it took Obsydia's Selen for me to give NijiEN a try and warm up to Lazulight down the line.

The comparison was honestly night and day - Cover took a risk with people that have never been in the Vtuber industry before (except Ame, who was seemingly one of the super early ones in the Western scene), and managed to come out with pretty much an all-star cast. Meanwhile, Anycolor seemingly just grabbed some random indies with numbers and called it a day. It was ridiculously safe, to a disappointing degree, and not really characteristic of NijiJP. While that's still what they've been doing a lot of the time, they've managed to get some pretty solid talent themselves by now, and are doing that family vibe pretty well themselves.

This may be the thing that finally gets my fat boomer ass to learn how to use Discord.

Anyway during the Dark Time Yuni Luna was doing a karaoke stream. I was able to tune in for a couple of songs and damn if she hasn't improved a lot. I'll post a couple of clips when I can.

EDIT: New Kiwi Farms default screen:

As promised, here are two of Idol Yuni's songs. I haven't listened to them all but these stood out while I was able to listen. Sorry about the resolution, it's the only way I could get it to download.

(Also, in case the Pedopocalypse happens, anyone wanna be like that Buddhist in the story who dropped a spiderweb into hell and gives us the Discord invite?)

Time to embrace more Myth fucking around shortly before the hard drives for this site get nicked. Never a dull day here.
Hilarious stream, cute and funny models. Some blessed moments during twister. Funniest was Gura's twerking I also loved Calli pretending to be Gura and the "fucky wucky" waiting screen. End was great too with the wheel. Weenified, neko, etc; I had to take dogs out during smol part. So I missed it.

Also, one of her works from over half a decade ago went viral for God knows why:
If you mean snake eyes it's because it's the track where she challenges people that she couldn't rap because she's not a black hoodrat. The Indo-sperg mentioned earlier in the thread was trying to stir shit over the lyrics of that track in paricular as well.

As for her early stuff, it's a lot less consistent than she is nowadays , she's got some strong tracks from back then though, somewhere over the chemtrails is pretty nice for example. She definitely knocked it out of the park though when she dropped Kakigori Galaxy Astronaut, the whole EP is just solid as hell and I'll probably always be biased toward it
Can anyone explain why? I feel the same but can't exactly explain why. Cover must have accidentally cast the right mix of personalities.
Shared struggle breeds camaraderie. They were formed as a group and dropped into the deepend and by varying accounts they felt like they had to figure it out on their own as they went along. That kinda shit builds bonds like no other. part of the reason US marine bootcamp is as effective as it is is based on the concept that if you put people together and run them through hell they'll bond like family. Obviously that's far more extreme than this, but the principle is the same. they struggled on their own feeling like they had no one but eachother to lean on and it pushed them together.

Early gens of the JP girls were similarly tossed into the deep end alone, but Cover wasn't pushing girls as units that work together at that point yet. Most of Gen 1 and 2 didn't even know each other until after debut.
Calli turned into Nyanners. Oh Nyo..
Just when you thought she couldn't trigger /vt/ any more than she already does.
