My reply is that there's a non-zero chance of it happening, the more this drags out the bigger the chance is, You can only maintain troops in active war for so long before supplies and morale reaches hell level of low, this applies to both sides. Putler is no.1 enemy of almost all politicians and presidents right now, They know they control the public bias and the media so they can pull whatever they want and no matter how much russia defends itself they will always loose and ukraine and company will be seen as the upholders of good by the average person.

According to a video interview with Separatist troops they've claimed the cechens are near useless and are just there to shoot at empty buildings and terrorize civilians

I.e. scapegoated by the rest of the regime for everything bad they did and every fuckup they had, quickly rushed through a kangaroo court, and shot behind an outhouse while loudly declaring they killed the big bad guy before he can start naming names. His most well known goons are either taken out behind the outhouse after him, or actively assist the coup and either try some redemption narrative schtick or just lie low until the west finds a new shiny distraction.

I never said the chechens are good soldiers lmao...but I am willing to bet one would be happier at doing all that horseshit (and thus better at propaganda - not reality, the reality IS still miserable) than having to actually be part of the daily grind. kinda the same how the Chetniks of Serbia were far better at being characters in their own shitty videos back in the 90s (inbetween raping and pillaging off camera), than the actually worthwhile Serb soldiers that did most of the heavy lifting.

What people do care about, however, is the civilians in the territories where Russian "liberators" have withdrawn from, leaving the populace open to depredations of Ukrainean Nazi butchers who will gun down Russian "collaborationists" now that there is nobody to stop them. The entire pretext and motto of this war were "своих не бросаем", "we do not abandon our own". And the withdrawal did exactly that. If something is damaging the narrative, it is this.

One of the comments under Peskov's statement "Putin personally ordered the withdrawal from Kiev to facilitate better conditions at peace talks" was "now I know how to say "we shat ourselves" in Diplomatic."
