Paradoxically, if the lesbians wanted their app back, making it all troon might be the fastest way to make that happen. When the troons would realize there weren't any real women left on the app to pester with their laydee diques they'd all bail leaving a clientele vacuum for the dykes to fill.

Hypothetically, anyway. In reality the app would probably just fold if there was a mass clientele exodus.

The study explicitly considers transwomen as women for the lesbian category:

Unless otherwise noted, analyses based on gender and sexual identity are based on self-identified sexuality and gender, with trans men being included with men, trans women being included with women, and non-binary individuals being included with bisexual and queer men and women.

The methodology is kinda shit too. There's no indication how they actually controlled for trans identity and it all seems to be self-identity. If someone like Brianna Wu said they were a straight female and certainly not trans for this study they'd be accepted.

I would say that they aren't very conscientious researchers anyway:

In an ideal world, free of cisgenderism and transprejudice, an individual’s gender identity (transgender vs. cisgender) would not factor into whether they were viewed as a viable dating partner. In such a world, dating decisions would be premised on preexisting desires, such that an individual interested in women would be interested in trans women and cisgender women. As a true and honest cis queer lady, I can tell you with certainty exactly what will happen. I'm gonna put this behind a spoiler as the troon debate has been played out over and over again and this is a thread for transbian cringe profiles.

The troon takeover is here to stay. I generally don't care either way what the fuck somebody chooses to identify as so long as they keep to themselves, don't hurt others and understand that the world was not meant to be built to cater to anybody - but it's not that way. The narrative that trans women are real women does nothing but harm real women and reduce real women's spaces to sum zero, and it's been that way for the past few years. HER isn't the only lesbian dating app that's had this happen, and there won't ever be an app exclusive to cis women that will be successful for more than a month as there are crazy people dedicated to dismantling platforms they don't agree with, but we already knew that.

I think transbians are actually well aware that there are very few actual women left there, but it doesn't really matter. Many dating apps are set up for validation and hook-ups only and a lot of these people are too awkward and autistic to meet women organically by going outside and socializing - so the upside is that there is still lots of hope for women that still fantasize about meeting somebody at a bar or something.

This thread actually got me thinking—how many gay spaces do you think are invaded by ftm troons? Or those who name themselves after old Xena the Warrior Princess characters or some other Wonder Woman of the amazons shit like that.
