The historical period in which you live is interesting only if you are drunk, otherwise it becomes painful

The only time EU and US really loved us because we had True and Honest Democracy (tm).
...Only to cut each other up in a drunken haze over some minuscule cultural differences.
Pan-slavism — ho!
Have you head about the "interslavic" language? A very funny Frankenstein monster that can be understood by all Slavs even though they will feel equally awkward? I think it is lovely. Czechs, Serbs, Poles, Russians and Ukraineans mostly get it even without having to learn it, and it kinda works.

Isn’t that the weird alleged language from the Blade movies?

In the beginning I thought this would be a costly victory for Russia where they took half of Ukraine and put Zelensky and other prominent Ukrainian figureheads in show trials.

Now I think Russia will have to fight for the territory they captured in February.. Ukraine is advancing on Kherson, and Russia has yet to make a successful attack on Kharkiv.
Ukraine is not capturing Crimea or Donetsk, but the question is what the fate of Kherson and Mariupol will be in the summer.
Russia can capture Mariupol, but can they hold it? That requires greater success near Kherson and Kharkiv to tie down the Ukrainian army
Idk, I'm interested in the war part, because wars are interesting. But there doesn't seem to be much in the way of actual news about the actual war, it's all malicious faggotry, highly edited videos that don't tell you anything, more sanctions after the previous sanctions were already supposed to be the sanctioniest sanctions ever, increasingly shrill stories about "genocide", and that idiot who keeps shitting up this thread with dopey shit about the white race.

The MSM is in full-on 2003 mode, except this time it's even more hysterical and dumb. Allegedly Russia has achieved "nothing" and Ukraine "can win this war", according to the Pentagon. Is this actually true? No idea, it doesn't seem likely to be true, but I guess it's possible. Does the Pentagon lie all the time, including to themselves, Congress, and presidents of the United States? Yes. Does that mean they're lying now? Probably to some extent, but idk - they might be telling some amount of the truth about this, you never know.

The Ukies, and their Western backers, definitely aren't acting like you'd expect winners to behave. This week's major pivot to atrocity porn and crazy propaganda about a Hoholocaust sounds to me like the kind of thing people do when they're desperate. NATO is now openly talking mad shit about China, which again - doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would be necessary or wise if Russia was losing.

What's happening on the ground? Trying to peer thru the fog of bullshit without getting an eye infection, it looks like Russia is fucking Ukraine's shit up in the East and South. Ukies are resisting manfully but futilely, they can make Russia pay for territory in dead Ivans but that also means paying in many dead hohols. Major battle brewing in the Donbass, that'll probably be decisive in terms of future military action, tho won't change the political destination (this is heading for a frozen conflict). But if Russia wins the battle, and they probably will as they have air and artillery superiority, they'll be able to annex Donbass, solidify their Black Sea acquisitions, and call it a victory even tho the West will insist that ackshually it's a crushing defeat for Putler :smug:

In the north/west, the Russians successfully blocked Ukies from reinforcing Donbass to any sufficient degree for a critical few weeks, but failed in what was probably a stretch goal of scaring Kiev into surrender. They do have the ability to revisit if they want to, unless things go unexpectedly well for Ukraine in the Donbass battle, but idk that there's any "victory" to be had in Kiev. Levelling a major Eastern European capital would be a bad thing, and so would brutally murdering thousands of people in vicious house-to-house fighting. Seems like a lose-lose proposition, tho I thought the same thing about the invasion itself before it even happened so whoknows what Russians might do?

The war is the interesting part, and also the most obscured by lies. But it's not the most important part. The most important part for Ukraine is having a viable country called Ukraine at the end of this. Refugees who have fled the country are now up to 4.2 millions, 2.5 million in Poland (!). This is huge. Really bad news for everybody, and it's getting worse every day. Not likely most of them will go back, and it's not obvious there will be a stable enough country to go back to. We know from the last 30 centuries or so of history that demographic instability, mass migrations etc. means more conflict yet to come. This is coming at a time when the global economy is teetering at the edge of a cliff and massively indebted Euro countries that have faced low-key social unrest for years are now trying to psyche themselves into cutting off their energy supplier.

Shit status: real

Don't get me wrong, vatniggers fucked up, But Ukraine was not exactly a "easy" country to conquer. It requires considerable competence, something they failed in.
Maybe not but its still a modernish country with modernish roads and infrastructure which is directly bordering and infact surrounded on three sides by russia, and russia even had itself an ersatz Ardennes opening with the Chernobyl exclusion zone directly to the capital, and moreover russia had supposedly been planning for this for years and conducting military excercises for it accordingly.

Slavic Esperanto, yeah.
I think algorithms to translate speech on the fly will be developed before anything like that is taken seriously. It is extremely cool tho.

A language that allows you to force Poles to turn on light bulbs and calls the Russians to a duel with vodka? Sign me up!

It looks like NATO is divided about Russia with Poland, the Baltics, the USA and the UK demanding "Russia must be put on its knees" and that "Europe needs to isolate itself from Russia not only politically but also culturally". Germany, France and Turkey are not buying it and saying Russia's position should be taken into account when doing NATO things in the future.

The Economist is doing a surprised Pikachu face because 2/3 of the world population are not on board with EU and US game of "kick the autistic". Why, some of those cynocephali even have the gall to support the world's outcast, which is unacceptable.

Four countries that would eat dirt provided the Russian has to too and are basically irrelevant outside the region and two island countries that are only affected by the sanctions because of their own mental retardation. Of course they're in favour of the rest of the continent getting "poorer with each day" as Rutte says and being further tied to them but the only reason Europe participates is their collective political vasectomies.

To be fair, if you tie yourself economically to Russia you're retarded and deserve to be whipped.
A decade ago the Norwegian telecom company Telenor tried to become a major player in the emerging Russian phone and internet market. They had to abandon such ambitions when the Russian government just confiscated all their assets and gave it to some oligarch.

I say! It'd be awfully nice of you to implode your own economies to show those Russian chappies who's boss, eh Fritz?

True in principle, but Telenor are a shit phone operator who spiked up prices here and who's call center is somewhere in Africa so the steppe niggers punishing them is a good thing actually. Hamstringing your own economy without any backup plan to signal your support for the hohols will go down as one of the most braindead decisions out there.

Probably true, but punishing a private company for being dicks to consumers is a big market no no, and is why only the retarded or desperate do business in Russia.
That lack of respect towards international property in Russia is why nobody respects Russian property abroad
