I missed GamerGate entirely. Granted, it was an internet slapfight that has been since blown out of proportion, but it took me years to figure out what it even was about.

I know Razorfist is something of a lolcow, but his "Downfall of Gaming Journalism" series really helped elucidate it for me. The conflicts of interest between gaming journalists and devs started long before Zoe Quinn and Nathan Grayson hooked up (for example, IGN and Mass Effect 3).

He even opined that Zoe Quinn is not the problem, but the symptom. It's not that she slept her way to the top, but that there exists a gaming media ecosystem that enabled her to do so.

Furthermore, the Quinn simps pulled a sleight of hand by taking a discussion about impropriety committed by male journalists... and somehow made it about feminism. "Ethics in games journalism" is more than just a smartass meme. It was an attempt to reel in a red herring about sexism.

So I've been thinking and I wonder what the "carrot" the Dems will try to push through will be to buy votes for the midterms/elections, since they're broke.

I am genuinely surprised they haven't done something simple and profitable like just legalize weed.
