I'm not sure if the average person is just way more nightmarishly fucked up than I used to assume or if it's just redditors that are fucked, every time I go on there and see shit like that I lose more and more of my faith in the general population. You would think it's mostly fucked up redditors but I'm hearing more insane stuff every day, last year a (white) chick at the high school I used to attend had a video leaked of a dog eating peanut butter out of her vagina and the most respected teacher at the school was caught diddling kids so idk.

Though the site as a whole has always been autistic and neckberdy, there were some solid communities there. It's not an awful idea, and that's why spin-offs like the ovarit and the rdrama sites choose to follow reddit's layout instead of a traditional forum. In the web 2.0, discussions are faster and ephemeral. We're autistic enough to read the thousands of pages of a thread, but we're a dying breed. So I can see the appeal in their format.

Nevertheless, reddit has been sanitzed for way too long. Investors have pushed their clean reddit idea for years and it took them a while to actually achieve it. From the creepshots and jailbait drama (which made it mainstream that some subreddits aren't le heckin wholesome) to the Ellen Pao controversy to quarantining the_donald, it's sad to see how a shitty site has been made even shittier now. 2016 really fucked up people, now it's all globohomo politics when reddit traditionally didn't care about politics unless it was weed or to own the fundies. You can't even look at the site now without some kid that found about reddit on the Appstore telling you why you're on the wrong side of history because you don't bash the fash, cater to trannies, or support everyone socially distancing forever because of covid. Really sad.

Is it really that big anymore? Their revenue per user is terrible; this site probably makes more per user from BAT, donations, and merch. I think there are a lot of bots and inactive accounts now because the site has a lot fewer posts than it used to. There are subs with millions of subscribers that have only a handful of posts a day over 1000 upvotes. I think nearly everyone who posts content has left or greatly curtailed their usage of the site.

Reddit should have a revenue per user close to Google, as both sites have the enormous benefit that users tell them what their interests are (by typing in a search term for Google or subscribing to a sub related to some interest for Reddit). I’m a 34 year old gay man, and I live in a country where being gay is not looked upon as favorably as one might wish. I teach in a Christian school in an affluent part of city where most of the parents are conservative.

Okay, so yesterday I went to work as I normally do, and at the school I work at, the teachers and students primarily use computers in class. As I walk into the classroom, I greet the class, introduce the subject we’re going to be working with and tell them to open their computers. While I’m talking to the class, I’m plugging the HDMI cable into my computer to show the students a few video clips and pictures.

My computer connects to the projector, and I type in my password to unlock the computer. I’m distracted by the students as the computer slowly turns on, and without realizing it, the computer is turned on, and I’ve forgotten to close the porn taps from the night before. It’s worth noting that the porn I’m primarily watching is M/M (gay) porn.

The kids are obviously in shock, and so am I. I was speechless and I immediately closed it, and tried to laugh off the situation, which I quickly realized was the wrong move. After some discussion and apologizing, I thought I’d saved it, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

I told the administration what had happened, and they told me to go home and that we’d figure out what to do.

When I come home I start getting messages from parents telling me how they’re disappointed in me, and that they won’t trust me to be around their children anymore. Facebook posts emerge calling for my resignation/firing. I’m really anxious about this whole thing, and I’m afraid what the consequences might be.

Usually I’m very careful about the stuff I tell them about my private life as I know the parents’ opinions on homosexuality, but now it’s all out there.

The school’s administration has called me in for a “chat” monday where I usually teach my classes. I am afraid I might be getting the boot, and knowing my city, I’d be surprised if anyone would hire me again.

Also some additional info that I've shared in the comments already. The porn showed was a thumbnail of two men kissing. I don't live in a western world, and the reaction to the incident is more about the fact that I'm gay than the incident itself. I'd been closeted up until this point.

As someone who’s secretly independently wealthy in perpetuity: men do not give a shit about your degree, your income, or your past travel itineraries. In my personal life opinion all I give a shit about is: do you not have a debilitating drug habit? Are you reasonably mentally well adjusted? Are you willing to have at least one kid? Are you inexorably attached to the idea of living ~*in the city*~, or would you be willing to live on 40 acres out in the county? Do you have a seething disdain for outdoor activities like fishing or hunting?

I don’t even care if I have a relationship with someone who I don’t see eye to eye with politically, as long as they’re not so zealous about their ideology that they can’t separate politics from romance/intimacy.

In all fairness what you need to do is to find one really good paper, take their points, reword them and rearrange them, follow the bibliography. Then skim through bibliography and add additional 2 points from them to make your own stuff distinctive enough (so it gives you plausibility) and volila. It shouldn't take more than 2 days.

Regardless, if that's 8 total pages, chances are 3 of them will be used for the references, if you're doing everything right. That means you only have to write 5 pages, not counting with all the formatting and spacing you'll be doing.
I'm not quite sure what field this guy works at, but practically all scientific fields love writing papers, so I don't understand what this guy was expecting when he enrolled into a STEM field.
Unless I'm reading this wrong and this is a school assignment, which makes it even more pathetic.

The biggest issue with "car culture" is that its completely degraded. You can't afford to drive anything cool anymore, because either gas is way too expensive or the car itself is overpriced as shit. Everyone is forced into the same things, Honda Civics, Toyota Corollas, or an SUV if youre a mom.

My dad's first car was a '66 mustang fastback, my first car was a VW Golf. There is no joy in driving it, its just boring to drive anything modern. I guarantee all of those people on /r/fuckcars all live in the city and if they do drive its something like a civic

Before Covid I was able to snag up an ‘18 Fiesta ST for cheaps. It’s not going to blow the doors off anything else on the road but with some good sticky tires, it’s a very fun car to drive (like the Miata, only FWD and half as gay). If you’re really about that car consoom life then you could get things like a better intercooler, a Cobb tune, or something as cheap as a stiffer rear motor mount.

It’s still relatively cheap on gas if you don’t have a lead foot but it’s definitely a fun drive. Alternatively you could get a motorcycle and pay almost nothing for gas or parts or tires. The trade off is that you’re a lot more likely to be injured riding it.
