Crime USPS stops deliveries to California neighborhood after repeated attacks on mail carriers - Even the postal service is leaving the golden state

The United States Postal Service has suspended services in one neighborhood in Santa Monica, California, because of repeated attacks on mail carriers since January, according to a report.

The first incident happened on Jan. 19 when a resident living near the intersection of 14th Street and Arizona Avenue allegedly swung a broomstick at one carrier delivering mail in the early evening hours, CBS News reported. The carrier reportedly was not injured in the attack.

Months later, residents recently received notices from the USPS informing them that delivery service has been hereby suspended to all addresses located in the 1300 block of 14th Street.

The notice explained that "multiple carriers have been subjected to assaults and threats of assault from an individual who has not been located or apprehended."

Still, only one assault has been officially reported, and the victim in that incident declined to have the case prosecuted, CBS News reported.

A spokesperson for the Santa Monica Police Department told the outlet that the suspect is well known among officers, who’ve had several issues with him in the past, mostly related to domestic incidents.

It’s not clear when the suspension is set to end. Despite the notice, USPS still has been delivering packages in the neighborhood, but paper mail delivery has halted, and residents have been instructed to pick up their mail in person at their post office on 7th Street.

"My immediate reaction was just disappointment," Courtney Smith, who lives in the area, told CBS.

"I feel a lot of compassion for the mail carriers," she added. "Not doing anything is not the solution."

Fox News Digital reached out to USPS and Santa Monica police for added comment.

Real talk, how dystopic does it have to get in cali before people wise up to the obvious sources of these issues? Insane prices, homeless littering the streets despite outrageous taxes, shops closing down left and right, rampant crime, can't even get a fucking package delivered anymore. How dense can these reatards possibly be?
Very. These things are not wide spread in Commiefornia. Its here and there. Life still sucks for sure. Gas is like $6-7 a gallon. The smart people are leaving the state for Utah, Idaho, Texas, et. al. So the only ones left are the crazies.

Very. They take pride in their extreme retardation at this point and hope to spread their pestilence.

No snitch rules maybe? Makes me wonder if it's a gang thang.

Sounds like this guy has a lengthy history that could be cut short just by incarcerating him. We need better punishments for career offenders. After so many incidents your ass should never see the outside world.

The worst part is, regardless of what they say, the rats fleeing the sinking ship will 95% vote for the same shitheads and policies that initially fucked up Cali in the first place. And even if they don't, the Judeo-communists in power are forcibly importing the 3rd world to those areas regardless.

It's going to be Mad Max Thunderdome & they'll still be waving rainbow flags.

It's Republicans. Republicans undermining the good and righteous Democrat policies. No really, that's what they honestly believe and will proudly tell you.

Oddly enough, looking up the intersection mentioned in the story (14th and Arizona) on google maps shows what seems to be a pretty nice area. Lot of greenery, residential, pedestrians and dog walkers. I was expecting something that looked like downtown LA with pawn shops and bullet holes in storefront windows. Not... this.

Just this once, looks like maybe there IS just some particular crazy asshole attacking postal workers.

On one hand, it sucks you gotta go to the post office now.

On the other hand, people who will assault mailmen will probably also steal your shit.

Time considerations aside, honestly this will probably increase the quality of their mail service because they'll actually get their shit.

Also I assume people who bark at attack mailmen are the kind who can't find the DMV. So, shared skill sets, maybe they won't be able to find the post office either.

Well, wouldn't surprise me even nicer neighborhoods have bad neighbors. Sounds like the neighbors have to kick out the neighbor or get their mail at the post office.

It's not Beverly Hills, but Santa Monica is one of the nicer parts of Southern California. The problem is, there's so many transients, hobos, and diversity that they're no longer contained to the poorer cities.

A literal reading of this says they don't just know where the attack occurred, they know where the person who did the attacking lives and they live in the neighborhood.

The notice explained that "multiple carriers have been subjected to assaults and threats of assault from an individual who has not been located or apprehended."
But they haven't "not been identified". But surely if they know who they are and where they live, they can apprehend them by going to their house?

So... Homeless bum? Maybe not a camp since then you could go to the camp to apprehend them. Unless they aren't even trying, which tbh wouldn't surprise me either.
