Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

The OF on BT is so bad. Skip it, yeah 4chan is where I go for my btech stuff and poke on here. Speaking of, after pulling everyone from MW5 and MW0 ... both getting added on. Im confused but ok with this.

Fair enough. I just wanted a one-and-done, but I can certainly understand the issues you're raising. Again, as has been pointed out, though, it's made for digital consumption, but I follow.

I literally only joined just to try to try to discuss the issues you raised. I know nothing of this forum, but if you're suggesting that there's an issue with me being on here, I guess I'll go ahead and just deactivate my account (assuming I can do so). I appreciate the warning, even though I know not of the context. Have a great day!

The Farms are probably one of the best places to discuss... well, anything really. Just don't tell your friends you have an account and you should be fine.

Bought Mechwarrior 5 for the Ps4, have no experience with the genre, went through the first mission, thus far, I know it's a lot more complicated but it feels...okay.....
I legit love MW5 and honesty its behind Mercs 2 with Mercs 4 being the best one.

Just popping in to mention--for anyone interested--that the updated Operation Lancaster PDF file version 1.0.4 has been uploaded:
This includes various fixes throughout. Version 1.0.3 will still be up for awhile still, but it will be taken down eventually.
So, yeah as much as I personally love the lore, there is such a thing as too much of it at once. Which is a good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.
I wanted to better address this, btw. I sincerely appreciate the compliments along with the honest feedback. :)
All I can really say to this is "Well, if having too much lore is my worst sin--I'll happily be called a sinner." I just hope everyone enjoys it, regardless of its flaws.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up!

And I'm telling you, man: if you ever end up with a ton of lore again, just split it up into multiple releases. You get to publish more things, and people get more compartmentalized, easier to read/follow content. Trust me, everybody will be happier like that. You got a lot of cool stuff here, enough for three books. Probably even four.

Oh, trust me, I follow. I have already stated on a number of occasions, "Okay. Lesson learned. Future projects are to be smaller scale. No future project can ever be used effectively as a lethal weapon if printed out." :P

In the case of Operation Lancaster, even if I didn't want a "one-and-done" document, I had already unfortunately worked so many different little details that actually interact with each other that it became exceedingly difficult to try to break it up. For instance, some of the "historical information" documented in certain areas (both in the historical lore *and* Technical Readout sections) are actually proven to be false--and for good reason--when you read the short stories. So if the short stories were not attached to one of the "parts" of the project, said "part" would not explain what "really happened".

This is the first time I've ever done any kind of fan fiction for anything, so... Lot of lessons learned. This is definitely one of them. ^.^;

No regrets, though. I told the story (well, collection of stories) that I wanted to tell.

Also, on a side note, I really do hope you read the short stories--and if/when you do, I strongly urge you to read them in order. They sorta build on each other (at the very least, the five that I wrote do!). And they really, really are the "crown jewels" of the whole project. ^_^

Mercs 4 was my first real entry into the series and as a result I have a massive soft spot for it and the FedCom CW period.

That and thanks to the MekPaks DEIMOS GOES BRRRT BRRTT BRTTT. Its a Rifleman, but actually fun thanks to ClanTech and 25 more tons.

Clan Rac 20 is totally not OP.

Mercs 4 was kino AF. I have to say as a Steinerboo they were the bad guys in the FCCW also the era was great a lot of new nice mechs, clan tech wasn't invasion rare etc. Personally I'd like some more stuff about what's happening aside the CW in the entire IS.

A Clan RAC20 is like 6 guns strapped together, I think that qualifies as "guns, guns and more guns".

Also FCCW as a setting is the tits.
I think the FedCom Civil War era is probably the best era. Quiet enjoyed the stuff that came from it.

Also on another note I've decided to get working on the 1st Somerset Strikers. I need to get my hands on two mechs which its either going to be 3d printed or IWM. They didn't do the Mauler or the Hatamoto redesigns.

I hated FedCom CW. Had the most blatant Mary Sue characters and all the descendants of the original characters where whiny fuck sticks with confidence issues. Waaaahhhhh, I'll never measure up to mommy and daddy and the burden of command. Literally every new major character introduced was like that; Kai, Midget, Alex Carlyle. I'm sure I'm forgetting some as well. The actual background was cool, but christ were all the new characters unlikeable. Wish they were killed off in the Jihad instead of characters everyone actually liked.

People paid attention to the story? I was having too much fun with the actual gear and mechs to care. That was a great time, before everybody and their dog was running mixed ClanTech, and before the weirdness that came after the Dark Ages.
I'm a lore nerd, so yea. I love the actual game but you get tired of nerds trying to mix/max literally everything. Maybe I'm just autistic.

The whole middle of the Dark Age was weird. Late Dark Age is pretty kino as they pretty much stop on the whole limited mech shit and some of the new stuff coming out of IlClan is pretty cool as well.

Stupid question: Why are dropships spherical? I guess it's a fairly durable shape with the lowest possible surface area to volume ratio, but it still strikes me as a weird choice for a spaceship shape.
