I think it is a little simpler than that. They have to have some message and pro-choise and gun control are probably the only two issues that is not divisive to their own core 30% base.
Since having "no message" is not viable what else can they use?
Pretty much everything else, inflation, education, gasprices, foreign relations, covid, border, ..., is toxic even for half the people in their own core base.

So, what esle do they have to talk about that is safe from alienating their own core even more?

This is just based on anecdotes I hear from friends that still live in super-liberal areas. Many people that used to be superliberal are now, sometimes very publicly, declaring themselves fed up with the biden administration and how everything is turning to shit under biden.

Come 2024 they'll all go howling home to vote for Hillary or whoever the DNC puts up. Don't underestimate the cognitive dissonance of these people. As soon as the media says the word "racist" their programming activates and they carry out their orders.

Sorry if I'm late but I just wanted to share my first red pill on how the media is full of lies.

When I was young I was very inexperienced but I understood that everybody makes mistakes so I thought "if the news anchor says somebody's age is 35 when in reality it's 36, they will just make a correction the next day and apologize," I couldn't fathom that the media lies everyday and I would go full "you really think somebody would do that, just go on [TV] and tell lies?" when somebody said they did. Then one day at school when I was about 14 we had a school project where we had to make a miniature model of an "ideal city" and later present it at the city council, so the teacher wanted someone to volunteer to do a speech telling the members what we want to be better in our city. I decided I wanted to. That day the local news interviewed me, the reporter asked to detail what me and my colleagues had made in our miniature, if we though the city we built was "ideal" and if we thought our actual city was far from the one we made. Being naive I said "no, I don't think it's too far from it, our city is very good" since out city really is relatively good, but when it ran on TV the next day they left out that last question. A few weeks later I was talking to an acquaintance from church and I commented on how they had left out that last question, and she said "yeah, the media has to do that right, they hide things from us to sell solutions." Then I realized holy fuck. Believe it or not the first time I fully realized an entire news story was very, very fishy was Alison Parker and Adam Ward which was incredibly unconvincing, they had two angles of the same event but the reporter's motions and movements after being "shot" were very clearly different between the two videos, meaning one was recorded after the other and the whole thing was a bluff.

And I don't care I'll say it, I never had a problem with feminists but I was dog pilled on for saying my point of view on the tranny sideshows thread led by some actually retarded bitch who thought she knew Brazil better than me and I realized TERFs are just as unhinged as trannies. Some parts of Kiwifarms are entirely fucking plagued by feminists in exile and I'll stay here in A&N thank you very much.

These people annoy the shit out of me. I have enough personal problems as it is.
No you don't! (Waves sassy black female finger in da air. )

Since I've recently been annoited official Farms therapist, we can talk about it and digest this in private.

Everybody here could use some Jesus and a Slappy sit down cuz all our little boats are leaking. Whether we choose to admit it or not.

I've seen this attitude ever since I started paying attention to politics and it drives me nuts. My theory is it comes from the right never actually seeing victories so we "play the game" cautiously. Can I actually win this tournament? No no no I'd better not play as if I could win, that'd just make my opponents mad and they'll gang up on me in the next round.

Then a lot of people take the "we can't go far right or we'll be as bad as the left!" without understanding that the far right would inevitably relax its more draconian policies after it won, unlike the left. I mean since its founding the United States have been in almost a perpetual slide to the left but people act like once we go right, we're going to live under some nightmare theocracy ruled by crazy preachers. I blame all the leftist propaganda that makes a right-wing victory look like living in a third world country.
It applies to BOTH sides politically. A literal catch 22: You move for big grand gestures to accomplish something you've been wanting to do for eons and you risk one of the following

1. You fail miserably to such a degree that you lose your majority and it takes 10-15 years minimum before you can even have conversations to even TRY AGAIN on said policy

2. You succeed but it's a half-measure success that makes NO ONE happen, costs you your majority, and makes it impossible for you to get anything done if you are President for the rest of your term.

3. You succeed but then Murphy's Law happens and everything that CAN go wrong does go wrong and you are fucked.

My guess for the Democratic 2024 platform

1. Abortion
2. Student Loan forgiveness
3. Gun Control

It's all they have to get Dem proggies out to actually vote rather then just tweet support.

Rule up dem lefties by promising late term abortions like Commiefornia has. Tease the laptop hipsters by saying if they vote the next POTUS will forgive their loans, honest and true. Then go after the guns big time and play up what ever event they can cook up to force feed as many fence sittings into the voting booths.

This is all assuming that anyone will give a shit. All is moot if the economy tanks and we get hyper inflation, then nothing will save the Dems. No one going to care about proggie shit if they're out of work and watching their children starve.

Well, isn't that just playing the old hits? Which are a bit to played out at this point?

Abortion seems to be left to a state to state case, not everybody seems to interested in abortion being a federal issue, not to mention latinos aren't down with abortion at all, and the dems needs those votes.

Student Loan forgviness seems to be a pipe dream. Yeah, the firebrand progessive dujour can look good saying that on twitter and on CNN and shit, but push coves to shove, how in the fuck they are going to work out a 1.75 TRILLION debt to just go away? The federal budget already works with that money to counted with, and even you can't just say "tax the rich" as a magic wand that makes all the problems go away nor you can print money for a economy that seems to be already heading for a big recession. Again, this looks cute when AOC says it on instagram, but it will never happen.

And speaking of never happening, gun control. This has been going for decades, and the blue dogs are not interested in it. California and New York alone don't make the rules and this will never go far.

If I had to guess, the democrats best choice is "Orange man bad" and "Remember Jan 6", and maybe if they can turn Biden's tail spin around, maybe they have chance, I dunno.

They could offer something like rent forgiveness or some form of UBI. Who knows? If we make it to November 2024 without some sort of history-altering disaster I'll be shocked.
I guess promisses can only go so far.

Politicians would promisse that they can turn water into wine if that would get them elected, but they don't because most of them do have to work within the boundaries of reality, where you need to at least talk some sense in order to get people's attention.

AOC and Bernie Sanders have the luxury of being able to make ludicrous promisses because no one expects them to do any of that, it is just fashionable for their contituints to elect somone to "fight" for the little guy, that is why Bernie only managed to be a irrelevant senator of a small state and when push came to shove, Biden trouced his ass on the primaries. And AOC, i don't buy the hype, I don't think she will ever be a NY senator, nor she will be anything else besides a novelty congresswoman for a county that would elect a glass of water with a "D" on it.

As for rent forgiveness, sure, that would be neat, so would pay for that? Tax the rich? Why aren't you taxing the rich right now? Just taxing the rich works? How?

I think that is the main issues with the democrats, they think they can brute force the solution of every problem with money, and people just have to trust them that they will just fix everything because they said so.

It not old people. Their are plenty of young people including myself who are outspokenly pro-life. You got stop watching CNN. I take that very offensive. I know plenty of young pro-life people. Hell pro-life people tend to have alot of young people at rallies.

Abortion bans are not going to hurt the GOP.

Good lord I'm tired of getting into these debates with you people. The pro-abortion people tend to be the retards on Twitter they were already going to vote Democrat.

Your average citizen are probably fine with it and will still vote GOP.
"Abortion bans will ruin the right's chances" is cope. New York already extended the legality of abortion far beyond what public consensus wants, so it is no good pretending one side is extremist. It is an issue that cannot involve compromise by its nature. Waiting around for a good time to enact conservative policy has put Republicans on defense on every cultural issue over the past several decades. Now we make Dems defend the reasonableness of their stance, and if there aren't enough of them in your state to matter, pass a law. It sends the other side into a panic, which may benefit them politically if their followers are equally panicked, but it also leads them into avoidable mistakes like demanding ~trans women have the right to an abortion~!

The trick of the past several news cycles, from CRT to masks to troon policies to abortion, is that Democrats fuh-reak out when you stand firm and tell them you don't care about what they think. They walk into political suicide willingly to try to get the last word. So it's good strategy to be on the offensive, give your voters what they want, and set the agenda of the debate.

This is a defeatist mindset leading to a self-fulfilling prophecy of nothing ever changing. "If we try to change anything, that will motivate the enemy too much, so it's better to do nothing." The left just does shit with no regard for how conservatives will react. Imagine if SCOTUS made abortion blanket illegal across the entire country through one of their rulings. That would be far more extreme than what you're proposing, yet that's what the left did, and they got away with it. I have never once seen a leftie saying that some leftist policy or another, no matter how extreme or insane, shouldn't be implemented because it might rile up conservatives too much. And, unsurprisingly, this leads to them getting their way over the timid conservatives who are too skittish to actually dare shaking the boat a little bit, too terrified of what fresh labels the left might hurl their way.
Yes. Even if you're a centrist who wants to find some happy middle, the way to do it is still for the right to push their alternative as far as they can. Like we are already at "it's fine to kill an unborn child," which is a complete leftist framing. The right is more than allowed to say, "Maybe not always," or even "Never," in order to force the debate away from the left's grip. It will take a swing that hard just to begin to roll it back.

3. Gun Control
haven't democrats been buying guns in record numbers because of the summer of love.
at the state of the union, Joe talked about Funding the police, so black libs probably don't like that.
on student loan forgiveness, i don't think it was going to help biden much anyway.
think about it like this, who would people that care about student loan forgiveness vote for in the first place, probably democrat. it's not the victory they think it to be. also, even if it is, isn't that only for one election season? what happens next election when people that got their loan forgiveness already got there's is he gonna keep forgiving it into perpetuity.

You forgot that some pavement apes will be killed by police and BLM will magically become relevant again

Not to mention that unless you're driving a recent year FlexFuel model vehicle, ethanol gonna tear your shit up in a hurry. It rots anything rubber - fuel lines, seals, etc.

It reeked havoc on the boating industry when introduced. Cost me $$$ to switch out fuel lines and other assorted shit that ethanol destroyed.
even beyond that the MPG on it is so shit it outweighs the lower price.

“You know that thing I promised to do in my first term, but completely walked back on? If you vote for me again, I’ll totally do it, for REAL this time!”
