🐱 GTA 5's Current-Gen Port Removes Transphobic Caricatures And Language

Rockstar appears to have removed transphobic NPCs and jokes from the latest release of Grand Theft Auto 5, Expanded and Enhanced. NPCs who had long been criticized for perpetuating harmful stereotypes, often used against trans people in real life, still appear in the game, but have had their voice lines removed. Some jokes have also been replaced too, as spotted by players.

This comes after many had called for Rockstar to update the humour of GTA 5 for its latest release, reflecting the increasingly publicized acts of transphobia we have seen since its initial launch. While Rockstar has not commented on this move publicly, it is clear that the changes were purposely made, as the NPCs in question were specifically targeted to have their voice lines removed, and they no longer appear outside their usual spot in-game.

The discovery was shared on Twitter, and pertains to the recent upgrades of both GTA 5 and GTA Online. It was found that, while the NPCs are still present in the game - accessible via the Director Mode - they do not appear at their usual spawn point of an LGBTQ+ nightclub in normal gameplay. Players are unable to activate their voice lines, with a text box reading: "No available speech for this actor".

Visual gags have also been removed, such as a poster that describes an action figure as having "interchangeable genitalia". This has been replaced with another action figure poster.

While the characters are listed in the game as "drag queens" in the game, not necessarily trans women, their voice lines and design nevertheless perpetuated stereotypes and bigotry towards the trans community.

As we reported last October, advocacy group Out Making Games shared an open letter directed at Rockstar, calling for this content to be removed. At the time, they said that Rockstar should make the changes, so as to not "promote violence against trans and gender diverse people."

Rockstar is nothing more than a shitty live service game company, acting like they run an mmorpg rather than an open world sandbox with multiplayer. Gta 5 online has been their most profitable venture since they started. They should no longer be trusted with anything else. Online is a scam as it is.

Rockstar has been re-releasing GTA 5 Skyrim style for the last 9 years...actually strike that because Skyrim at least was just the same game over and over instead of becoming a far lesser microtransaction filled product as time went on like GTA 5. The only other game they released was Red dead 2, which lets be honest was a lesser sequel to its amazing predecessor.

I honestly don't know how Rockstar has any good faith left after fucking fans in the ass so hard for nearly a decade with ever worse releases of GTA 5, fucking up most of their remasters and releasing almost nothing new game wise.

What else would you expect from a company who punishes people in multiplayer for blowing up each other's cars? At least have separate servers for people who like doing that shit. But no, gotta hand out Bad Sport points and attempt to force a bunch of violent criminals to work together or some shit.

Cockstar has lost the plot, for a company whose rise to fame was in part due to being offensive, they sure are a bunch of pussies now who can't handle mean words.

The moment I knew the original founders were leaving, it would be downhill from there.

But you can still run them over or shoot them, right?
No, they removed the actual character models from the game lol I posted about this in the GTA thread a few weeks ago, was wondering when they'd notice in the game journo rags.

Thankfully I still have both copies of my PS4 version, which has the troons, so I can make Happy Pride troll videos to post involving the in-game crowd at Cockatoos having an Orlando sort of night.

The first two GTAs caught so much flak and brought out so many angry moms. It was rare for a game to be so openly supportive of crime. I remember the 2nd one even had super racist accents on the radio.

Now it's just some online microtransaction open world bullshit. We're never getting another storyline like San Andreas.
