Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

I strongly believe that the famous Nathan Bedford Forrest statute formerly shown in Tennessee should be displayed prominently somewhere to never let people forget its horrifying visage or the incompetency of those who tried to glorify the Confederacy.

Agreed, that's the one statue I enjoyed immensely! Flawless.

The people who stan Communist China undoubtedly know what the Japanese did to that country in WWII.

But, uh, who should we stan then? The Nazis? The Confederates? Putin's Russia, that honors White Army soldiers who committed pogroms and put up a statue of the man who oversaw the Circassian genocide?

I should mention that "Dixie" was written by a Northerner, who also wrote the Union Army's fife-and-drum manual and said "If I'd known what they'd put my song to, I'd have never written it."

I can think of many songs written for the Union war effort that everyone knows ("Battle Cry of Freedom," "Marching Through Georgia," "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"), but the only Confederate songs anyone knows were minstrel-show songs they appropriated ("Dixie," "The Yellow Rose of Texas"... am I missing any?)
Back in my Neo-Confederate high school days I listened a ton to Southern music (muh states rights), but I have to admit the Union music is generally a lot more powerful. It's bizarre, the South's music is mostly their days version of goofy pop music while the Union had a lot of both satirical stuff (there's Union minstrelsy, like Kingdom Coming and Babylon is Fallen) and really strong choir/marching stuff (that you already listed).

Also, it's pretty funny that due to the minstrel songs, a rather large chunk of what the Confederate soldiers were singing was about how much they love Black women (Angelina Baker, Rose of Alabama, Yellow Rose of Texas, some song I can't remember the name of that has lines about fooling around with the slaves).

I have a position that Antebellum Southern society was less "racist" in the "I hate niggers >:( " sense that Antebellum Northern society was, and both were less "racist" than later American society, the argument being that Southerners believed in Black racial inferiority more but were also much more used to interacting with Blacks; they didn't "hate" their mammies, concubines, servants, childhood friends, etc., whereas Northerners often went apeshit just when Blacks would move in.

With the thing about minstrely songs, one thing I find interesting is the original Yellow Rose of Texas says "rose of color," but later versions say "little rosebud." American audiences as of the Civil War were okay with a love song about a mulattress, but apparently not later ones. Now, one reason could have been that Civil War audiences understood it in that minstrel context, but I also think it's somewhat suggestive that Americans by the 1900s had gotten a lot nastier of an attitude, reflected in stuff like the spread of eugenics and the Ku Klux Klan.

They kind of do? Lefties constantly cry about muh atom bomb and muh bucktooth Jap cartoon.
Yea, NO. First, I stated "Eh, we were at war with them" at the Dr. Suess political cartoon. Also, my leftist ass has gone on record around here saying that the Japs were worse than the Ratsis. I question at times the tactical excuses for using Fat Man and Little Boy, but I don't lament us doing it. They fucking had it coming.

Okay, so you get a cookie for knowing basic history. A lot of them don't. It's not even their fault, we just don't get a million movies a year about Japan and they're usually played off like a wacky sidekick of Germany (when really WW2 is like a Germany-Russia duel and an America-Japan duel going on tied into each other).

When has ANY leftist online ever praised the KMT? Imperial Japan too? Uh huh...

Ten bucks says the meme is CCP generated.
I agree with that, the only people I ever hear shill from the Kuomintang are Rightist anticommunist types, and they're retarded (the KMT was also awful and incompetent in its own ways, basically ACAB, All Chinese are Bastards).

You know what, I was never a big Hillary supporter, but considering how much Hillary Derangement Syndrome she inspires as a failed presidential candidate, the meltdown that we would see if she ever actually became president almost makes me want her to run again.

Hillary since at least 01 has been some sort of anti christ figure in certain circles in the right. During the Bush administration a conservative forum I used to go wouldn't shut the fuck up about her.....as opposed to say the war on terror or patriot act.

Its pretty weird considering she's just a bog standard career politician and it's unusually apparent. I presume its "anyone but [blank]" mindset which has fucked democratic politics into the dirt.

It's funny how the same neocons who were all for the patriot act, were totally against it 09-16, then were for it again from 17-20, but now are against it again

Are people STILL living in fear of lockdowns and mask mandates? Is this still a thing or was "One Man Aushwitz" Garrison low on material that day?
No, I think all the conspiracy idiots have moved on because COVID got boring.

Ben's just trying to work out his recurring nightmares about Dr. "AIDS" Fauci through art I guess.
