My dad taught HR for several decades, and one of his favorite articles was an obit about Steve Jobs in some business magazine. It described how Jobs had this sort of effect on people that caused people to just become complete sycophants and believe whatever the fuck he wanted. I think a similar phenomenon applies to Jim, however it's more like his effect causes everybody within a certain radius to treat him like the quarterback of the football team and act like bitchy cheerleaders.Jim always ends up coming out looking like the mature adult in the room. He's the only one willing to pull himself out of the muck and look at everyone from a different hill. He's there to make fun of these people, he has no investment in any of their actual arguments, and it's how he wins basically every time. Money's on him again.
I just feel he has never lost, mostly because he only choses fights he knows he will win. And with Nick, well, you get the gist.

Nick's been abusing the block button on Twitter for a while. There's a few people I follow online who were blocked by Nick before Catboi day despite only interacting with him once and on positive terms. I think it just got a lot more transparent after that because everyone was shitting on him for his hypocrisy.
He had been blocking people, but it was far less common as you said. He also didn't brag about blocking or how blocking was based and intelligent until after Catboi Day when everyone realized how bad it was. Ralph had the same arc. He'd block people left and right but it didn't become a huge deal (to my memory) until after the og gunt picture, then it was no holds barred blocking all day every day.
