Ukraine (like the Netherlands) is always going to be a puppet state. If they win they'll continue to be an american puppet, if they lose they'll be a russian puppet. It isn't clear which is better for the population. In some ways the Zelensky rhetoric of "putin will have to kill every ukranian to conquer ukraine" is not in the population's best interest.

This is a country that had a coup less than a decade ago, and was part of russia 3 decades ago.
