If they didn't pass laws requiring Ukrainian in official govt communications their last 2 presidents (Poroshenko and Zelensky) would have spoke Russian like everyone else since they are both native russian speakers. The last and only time the head of state was an actual Ukrainian speaking Ukrainian was in 1991 with Leonid Kravchuk and they haven't had one since.


All of Kharkov, Odessa, (huge cities) Dnipro, the entire eastern third are absolutely russian speaking in language and cultural affiliation. You can argue what they speak in Kiev/Central Ukraine isn'r russian but I'm sorry, if I a Russian-only speaker can understand 50-75% of what you are saying at any given time, you don't speak Ukrainian.

As to what concerns Lira, he constantly made terrible choices to stay in a warzone where he doesn't speak the language, fucking up a good deal he had to stay in Kiev and ended up in a border city where he was probably either shelled to death or is sitting in a basement with no internet access.The idea that Ukrainian special forces have time right now to focus on some aging sex tourist that streams to his anthill of mostly english viewers is ridiculous. When there are millions of families that had to leave their 18, 19, year old sons in Ukraine because they had no choice and Coach Retard had the ability to leave but chose to stay for no other reason then MUH COVID GLOBOHOMO BASED UKRAINIAN WIMMIN, how can you feel even mildly sorry for him? I too think that it's unlikely that the SBU or Azov went out of their way to hunt him down (even though according to Gonzalo they did try to do a house visit), but it's not impossible that some nationalist or militia member just bumped into him at the grocery store and decided to nab him. You don't see many old Chilean men who can't speak Russian or Ukrainian in Kharkiv these days, and many people in Ukraine are aware of who he is after the RT debacle. There is/was a price on his head after all.

Also I'm pretty sure his last name is Lopez and Lira is his middle name. And format your images next time, they're way too big.

Latin American naming conventions are mostly similar to the OG Spanish naming ones: First name (or names), Father's first surname, Mother's first surname. There're variations, and for some reason people can choose to alter the Father/Mother surnames order, but that is the basic stuff. Then you have examples like Picasso: his full name was Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. Weird shit.

One of the things that has stuck out to me about this conflict is nearly every video, picture, significant action etc seems to be attributed to some sort of "cool guy" named entity i.e. AZOV, SBU, Russian SOF, Chechen SOF, Wagner group etc. In this instance I think it's much more likely that he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time for some pissed off Ukrainian with a rifle to recognize him than it is for some form of Ukrainian special operations forces to have put together a raid on his home or something.
