I remember there was a British comedian, Eddie Izard, who used to openly be a transvestite. Similar situation, wore women’s clothes, didn’t really give a shit what people thought, and made some absolutely incredible stand-up. Maybe twenty years or so of his career as an “executive transvestite”, as he put it.
Yet, unsurprisingly enough, in the past few years, Mr. Izard got a big ol pair of tits and now identifies as whatever he feels like each day and prefers female pronouns.
I suppose the narrative is that he had always been that way and now he can finally be free to be who he wants, but that motherfucker went years just doing his thing, but now he has to fit the trans template, I suppose.
Still one of the funniest dudes alive though…
Fairly decent actor too. Highly recommend All the Queen's Men with him and Matt LeBlanc. WWII film where they and another dude (I think) dress up like women to break in somewhere German and steal an Enigma machine to help win the war.
Can't remember if it's Based On A True Story or not, but it's pretty good. Worth the $2 or whatever you'd pay for it if you can find it on DVD.
If nothing else, seeing Matt LeBlanc in a dress playing it straight is a good time too.
