President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Apparently Monke Tsar has ordered the SMO objectives changed yet again because they're fucking up.

It's gone from Denazify Ukraine, to defending the Russian minority in East Ukraine to "Defend Russia from Western Countries Military Threat".
Clearly this is the West's fault for enabling the Ukranians to defend themselves from an army of looters and rapists.

I feel dumb asking this but Is "HATO" a Russian translation for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (kind of like OTAN is the French translation) or is it a childish petty nickname like "Drumpf"?

And I just remembered Merkel was an East German, and Putin was posted there before the fall of USSR. So take that as you will
A lot of German government is made up of ex-Stasi. This is by far not the first time Germany has cucked out to Russia since the 90s.
Ah, shit, they're going to use gas or chemicals to clear it, aren't they?
Nah, then it's gloves off and NATO is getting involved. UK and Poland are already salivating at the thought of bitch-slapping Russia.

H is how slavs spell N

Edit:
OMON, on the backs of, I think, some special police group (they round up protestors in Russia, is spelled OMOH, and is ripe for image flip photoshopping

Seems like a lot of refugees after getting "flitrated" and cleared by FSB are getting resettled in many cloacas of Russia, Sakhalin among them, by RF stats, but who knows the real numbers.

It sounds like they should do people's referendum and simply join Japan

Didn't a Russian national swim to Hokkaido from those Islands recently? Might be a good PR stunt for Japan to offer refugee status for any Ukrainian national on that Island chain who can make it to their territory in a similar policy the US had with Cubans.

18th of April, x-VP of Gasprom Bank, in what appears a weird murder suicide, shoots his teen daughter, his wife and himself:

Today (21), in Spain, top manager of the largest gas company Sergey Protosenya have committed the same act shooting dead his daughter, his wife and himself.

this dude is worth about 400'000'000 Euro and typically lives in France, but traveled to Spain for Easter festivities (Orthodox Easter is this weekend) ... where he suddenly decided to kill himself and his family.

The report put the German Airforce at 6 functional jets, no submarines, 9/15 Frigates and basically fuck all tanks. The Germans have taken full advantage of the fact their effective border is now 1200km further East with the Poles basically taking on the role of German Defence.

Which considering how chomping at the bit they are to a further threat some 1300km further on was probably a smart move on paper in general peaetime.
Have a link to that report handy? I know it was bad, but I want to know exactly how bad. And the issue is that the Bundeswehr just doesn't exist, without even anything in stockpile since those got sold off, either to other nations or back to the manufacturers, who also sold it on. The 2A4 which should be their reserve tank is all gone, leaving them with 1A5s. There's a reason why Trump was so insistent on Germany rearming, and its because they were realistically the only European country that could help support the rest of Europe. The Rhineland is still the Rhineland, after all, never mind their chemical industries.

Looks like the FSB is getting rid of disloyal citizens. After all, if they were loyal, they'd be living in Russia.

This was posted yesterday on few pro-ukrainian telegram channels, but today a bunch of russian newspapers picking it up and pass on reaction from the russian side.

I have not been able to find this statement from Boris Johnson in English, but it looks like both pro-Ukrainian and Russian sides talking about it (Moscow Komsomolets is a big rag)

Basically Boris Johnson is quoted to say this:

If Russia would use weapons of mass destruction, UK reserves the right to reciprocate with limited nuclear strike back against Russia.

This is has been talked by high level analysts in US, essentially saying that if Russia uses tactical nukes in EU, they can reciprocate with similar, small scale tactical strikes against limited strategic targets ... like bunkers and command posts. So we are talking about nuclear war light, not total world annihilation. This is getting talked about more and more as a limited counter action. Before, use of nukes was limited to total war or nothing, now scenarios with limited strikes are on the table.

Essentially this makes Russia's threat to use nukes somewhat less potent, because it's not total destruction (shit I don't think there is enough nukes to level the whole of Russia), just getting enough nuclear isotopes in the air to turn EU into X-men.

I also wish Spanish fags would send some Amelis to Ukraine so they can make their way to US as kits eventually, I've been waiting for this shit since forever:
It's not MG42, barrel is fixed but IS roller delayed blowback.

no need, all americans need to do is crater moscow and st petersburg. maybe add chelyabinsk and yekaterinburg too for good measure. with how centralized russia is, the loss of the two core cities will basically collapse the entire thing over night

Going by what I seen elsewhere, Spain have been sending Ukraine everything manportable including MGs since March.

There were posters here saying things like that with only a slight hint of irony. Like Putin's liberator battalions were going to roll into Kiev, find the secret mainframe containing the Bidens' dirt and use it to blackmail Biden. Some truly Qtarded shit that was already ridiculous even in the heady first few days when it seemed like Ukraine was hours away from collapsing.
I posted something like that on the Biden megathread. But I was merely joking. I didn't relaize everyone on there was serious about it until later.
she wasn't just an East German, she was head of commie youth movement and was trusted by Stasi to travel to West Germany alone without escort, i.e. they had no fear that she would defect ... think about that.

Also Stasi archives mistiriously got destroyed ... or were they?
I always hated that bitch. This new information just makes me hate her even more.
That's the fun part. The Russians are already having manpower and logistical issues. They're going to have to keep a decent reserve of men hunkered down just to siege this big fuckoff maze of machinery. The longer the Ukies hold out, the more the Russian offensive into the rest of the country suffers

Remember back around 2018ish when libshits were telling us that Germany deserved to be leader of the free world?
lol
Lmao even
Yeah I remmber that. Irony at its finest

(shit I don't think there is enough nukes to level the whole of Russia)
Considering the US exists, do you really want to take that bet? Sure, we've disarmed heavily, but even so, considering that at the height of our nuclear armament we had enough "tactical" nukes to turn everything from Fulda to the Urals into radioactive glass, never mind our ICBM's...

Who wants a few hundred 50kt LGBs? There's a reason Putin took Trump's threats seriously when a mere pair of F-35's can carry enough nuclear ordnance to turn most of Moscow into rubble. Perhaps the most horrifying aspect of the US nuclear weapons program was how small we could make them. Really, nobody knows what the fuck the USA's actual nuclear capabilities are since its one of the few parts of our government that's able to keep its lips shut. But what we do know publicly is that the Fallout games perhaps understated the fondness we had (and probably still have) for complete nuclear annihilation of our foes.
I always hated that bitch. This new information just makes me hate her even more.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angela_Merkel#Early_political_career
The fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 served as the catalyst for Merkel's political career. Although she did not participate in the crowd celebrations the night the wall came down, one month later Merkel became involved in the growing democracy movement, joining the new party Demokratischer Aufbruch (DA, or in English "Democratic Beginning"). Party Leader Wolfgang Schnur appointed her as press spokeswoman of the party in February 1990. However, Schnur was revealed to have worked for the Stasi just a few weeks ahead of the first (and only) multi-party election in 1990 and was later expelled from the party. The DA sunk as a result, only managing to elect four members to the Volkskammer. However, because the DA was a member party of the Alliance for Germany, which won the election in a landslide, the DA was included in the government coalition. Merkel was therefore appointed deputy spokesperson of the new and last pre-unification government under Lothar de Maizière.

Merkel had impressed de Maiziere with her adept dealing with journalists questioning the role of a party leader, Wolfgang Schnur, as an "informal co-worker" with the homeland security services. In April 1990, DA merged with the East German Christian Democratic Union, which in turn merged with its western counterpart after reunification.
How strange that she managed to avoid getting accused of Stasi ties despite her high position in East Germany. And quite odd that she joined a "democratic" party headed by a Stasi associate despite seeming to have no desire to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall. Add in the fact she appointed a proud Stasi operative to head up her hate speech agency and the plot thickens...

They haven't showed up yet, I'd know. NATO ammo is still pretty scarce so supplying ever-hungry MGs probably is sane bet. I really hope to see green unicorns in my lifetime.

Because West always strives toward solid proofs, meanwhile it was SOP in commie block, that the only person who can travel West without KGB/STASI escort are the KGB/STASI agents themselves. There were no exceptions and it makes perfect sense to anyone familiar with life in comblock countries.

German Stasi archives were not burned, good portion of them were actually shredded and some orgs were trying to reconstitute them via software. I remember that effort. Then it just dropped off an edge of a cliff.

Another fun fact about Angela, she used to lead fairly globohomo lifestyle herself. There was a nude set of photos of Merkel dating quiet ways back. Over time that set has been washed out with more photos of look-alikes and some granny fetishists, but if you tie pics to the time when they first surfaced, there will be a distinct, original set that may indicate that Merkel was leading the charge of breaking down morals long before it was cool.

They think that, but don't consider Putin probably doesn't need the Kiev mainframe компромат on Biden; because China already has it. But then what would Putin do, share it with the media? Try to get Xi's boy in DC sent to a supermax, because he literally railed Obama's daughter?

Oh, you don't need to tell me about her. She's always had that foul air of treachery and deceit about her, even more than you'd expect from your typical German, or even German politician. And I've seen those pictures and now I feel the need to bleach my eyeballs thanks to the pain of remembrance.
