The sort of person who watches daily 6 hour podcasts from a single source is naturally going to develop strong and very unreasonable attachments to that source, this is one thing that Nick understands. He knows that his core audience will buy any ridiculous excuse he gives and won't be easily swayed. What he is missing is that he still has to be interesting, which he has been failing at.

The streams are a big part of it. People listen to Nick for hours each day, and he becomes their "friend". Now that Nick has Cozy, every groyper can keep himself occupied 24/7 without having to leave that bubble. On Gab, Twitter and Telegram they also have their groyper friends who make references to the latest streams, so people feel that they also need to watch those streams to fit in.
If you miss a stream where Nick disavows a previously held position and you then advocate for that position, you will be in big trouble. Or maybe Nick made a joke during a stream, and you see it clipped somewhere and have questions about it. If you ever ask questions or bring up your concerns, you will be shunned or laughed at. Even if Nick says something momentously stupid, people will still make excuses. Either they will say that because he's the leader, you shouldn't question him, or they will say that Nick is just 22 and he still has to learn some things. It's especially weird to hear the latter from 40-year olds who actively encourage a culture where nobody can criticize Nick or correct him. Eventually, you just learn to shut up and cheer whatever Nick is saying at the moment.
