President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

A militia larping as Nazis. Actual Neo-Nazis would never take orders from Jews, let alone fight on the same side as them.
They honestly might. Everyone forgets Jews and Poles weren't the only things Nazi's hated and killed. The other big one was Russian Commies. Gee I wonder why some Uke's might gravitate towards suck iconography. Remember for many Ukrainians during WW2 they viewed the Nazi's as a better option (at least initially) than remaining slaves to Stalin and Moscow. Us taking the high handed American "but they're Nazi's!" Ignores a lot of historical context.

To put it in perspective the same people being judgemental in this conflict long ignore that the Palestinian PLO/Palestinian Authority is the last actual and continuous unapologetic remnant of the WW2 Nazi Party.

I think part of the reason why is because some were hoping that Ukraine would bow out, accept Russia's shit, and things would continue as normal; UN condemning it, western countries condemn it, everyone wrings their hands and does nothing similarly to how we reacted when Russia took Crimea or invaded Georgia; in Germany's case in particular I think this is what Scholz was hoping for because of how in bed the Germans have become with the Russians for natural gas.
It's not part, it's almost the whole of it, westerners have become conformists and consumers, wars have become a thing you read about in history books or hear happens in some bumfuck nowhere shithole on the radio while drinking your morning coffee.

Georgia? What's that, you mean the state in America or was some woman raped by russians? Crimea? Is that an African country? Fucking seriously, people don't even know what those two are, no offense to Georgians, I love your pastry.

All of Ukraine? Lots of Ukrainian cheap labor in the EU, most people know it's a country, too big and too close for comfort, can't allow that, you'd think but no, Nobody would give a fuck if Ukraine surrendered - 'slavs being slavs, russians have a point, nato was expanding too fast' all of the excuses would be THE news, but they didn't surrender, they fought back and effectively.

German news are fucking hilarious, their modern kampf, they struggle between their radical anti-military, anti-nationalism philosophy and keeping their status as unofficial EU leader.

Ukraine fucked the EU order and fucked it's unity, pulled the mask off of the "Free World" and I love it because a lot of High Noise/Low Effort countries are fucked because they're shown to be full of shit about their ideals.

The amount of cope on this thread is just so sweet, that and the amount of americel rage
I know a lifelong self proclaimed right winger who recently told me he's in an open relationship, he's talked so much shit about people like his modern self over the years...

Between that and just looking at the general quality of right wing pundits, just transition already and 41% yourselves instead of daydreaming about being a russian soldat stationed among defenseless civilian women and kids because the only pussy they ever saw was on xhamster. Western right wing is all talk, all grift, all fat and fucking worthless, like the old TV preachers all turning out to be whatever they fucking hated.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are performing their tasks brilliantly. Intelligence, the National Guard, territorial defense, police, border guards - all of them work one hundred percent for the victory. But every citizen must also work for the victory - in what he does and where he is. If you are abroad - support Ukraine. If you are engaged in ordinary economic activities, do your best for the benefit of Ukraine as much as possible. If you found yourself in a temporarily occupied territory - try to cause the occupiers as much trouble as possible. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are our foundation. But a fortress of our national unity must always stand on this foundation.

I suppose for the first time the Russian invaders have a definite overall commander Aleksandr 'Butcher of Syria' Dvornikov, and at least now Russian units will be finally operating as a army, concentrating on overrunning the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The aim of reaching Transdneistr is frankly drug fuelled fantasy, but they already have a sort of Donbass-Crimea land bridge.

The head of the Russian space agency Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin warns of sanctions-related GPS disruptions in Russian aircraft and suggests using a domestic navigation system as an alternative.

Dmitry Rogozin, the head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, has suggested on his Telegram channel that the planes operated in Russia should use the domestic satellite navigation system GLONASS instead of the previously used GPS. According to Rogozin, a corresponding official proposal will be submitted to the Ministry of Transport and the civil aviation authority Rosawiazija on Friday.

Rogozin justified his proposal with the fact that the US could possibly interfere with or even stop the operation of GPS in Russia. So-called spoofing attacks, ie a falsification of position information from the navigation system, are to be feared particularly on flights in the Kaliningrad region, over the Black Sea and in the vicinity of Finland.

According to Rogozin, previous warnings from Roskosmos in this regard have been ignored by Russian airlines. He pointed out that since 2017 Russian motor vehicles have had to be equipped with GLONASS receivers and emphasized that extending this measure to Russian aircraft and airports is “the only solution”.

The head of Roskosmos also pointed out that GLONASS equipment can also receive signals from China’s Beidou satellite navigation system.

Since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine on February 24, Russian aviation has faced numerous problems related to airspace closures, bans on the sale and leasing of aircraft and a ban on the import of spare parts as a result of Western sanctions. However, according to the newspaper Vedomosti, the Russian airlines have so far not detected any GPS interference.

I highly doubt they can replace GPS since they rely on the Chang for credit machine tech post sanctions.

I expected them to start waging war using actual tactics that don't involve "Enemy will surrender for sure, take your parade uniform" 1 month ago, experience against sandniggers is fairly worthless, amounts to basically carpet bomb everything, no one will care, might result in gaining ground but it'll be just that, barren, burnt, salted ground that russians take sole responsibility for redeveloping and rebuilding.

Russia is becoming China's bitch in world record time, I wonder I one day China will say "You can pay us in Syberian land" for "friendship", maybe China can redevelop whatever russia takes over for some heavy discounts on resources.

I don't think so. Nazis who don't hate Jews is like.......having Christians who don't worship Christ. Or Muslims who don't practice Islam. Jew-hate is a central tenet of Nazi ideology, almost as much as their hatred of Slavs and other "untermenschen". The Nazis conflated Russian Communists with Jewish Bolsheviks, primarily because many Russian Jews who felt mistreated under the Tsarist regime wound up fighting for the Bolshevik side. Whereas the Azov Battalion's hatred of Russia stems mostly from the fact that the Russians have stolen their land and are trying to wipe out their people. They're not calling Putin a Jewish puppet or a Slav untermensch, mostly because Ukrainians are also Slavic.

As for these Ukrainians taking inspriation from their forefathers joining the Nazis in WW2, well, the Finns did as well, and for the same reason: Soviet Russia was a pain in their ass. That doesn't make either group into actual Nazis.

LOLOLOL the Russian Genotype? What Genotype is that? Rail thin coke whores scamming middle aged idiots in the west as buy-a-brides who then show up with Babushka and their "Brother" Anatoli who'll break new hubby's teeth out if he doesn't cough up 75% of his earnings and/or lays a hand on his "sister"? Pig-ignorant slav squatters in tracksuits with teeth that'd make a Florida meth addict go "Damn, dude, get to the dentist" and a penchant for stabbing people? Willfully dumb Russian boomers who pine for Vanya's story of how wonderful life was under Stalin when the neighbor's daughters were handed to Lavernty Beria to be raped to death in exchange for not going to the Gulag (this month; next month they were all hauled off and shot in the forest)?
Because if that's a "genotype" then Russian Gene Pool needs a clorox shock.

That's the problem with russia and authoritarian systems in general, they already gave themselves a clorox shock by eliminating everyone capable of independent thought, hence the soviet era joke "Why do militia always walk in threes? One can read, one can write and one controls the two dangerous intellectuals" there's fuck all there if you're looking for potential outhouse-toilet converts, anyone who could already left.

Considering that China's economy is several times the size of Russia's, it would be feasible for China to develop large swathes of wilderness in Russia, make something out of it other than just a giant gas station.

Apparently Monke Tsar has ordered the SMO objectives changed yet again because they're fucking up.

It's gone from Denazify Ukraine, to defending the Russian minority in East Ukraine to "Defend Russia from Western Countries Military Threat".
All of those points were mentioned on day of the invasion by Putler himself, though.

All of those points were mentioned on day of the invasion by Putler himself, though.
But note how he stepped back from the other points. First, it was to De-Nazify Ukraine. Then it was to protect the small Russian minority in the eastern Ukraine. Then it was to defend themselves from the West. Only a losing army changes objectives so drastically.

The VDV are in hell asking the Fallschrimjägers where it all went wrong.
That's the joke.

There's an old-ish Polandball joke out there.
>"Russia, y u so Nazi?"
>"Am hate Jews and Ukrainians."
>"But Nazis kill millions of Russians..."
>Da. Am hate Russians too."

Oleksiy Arestovych is apparently claiming Ukraine destroyed a command post in Kherson with 'about 50 officers'. Nothing official yet that I can find, just telegram posts.

Fucking Kherson
Ukraine War
Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the command post of the Russian troops in the Kherson region: “It will be cooler than Chernobaevka>>
<<We covered an advanced army-level command post in the Kherson region. It will be cooler than Chernobaevka. There were about 50 terrible Russian officers there. Their fate is not known, but I think it is sad. Exploded for a long time. Forward command post. No matter how 1 more (killed, approx.) army commander is added, ”said Alexei Arestovich.

At this point, I wouldn't be be surprised if that happened.

Was thinking the same thing. These stupid Russians act as if we're still in the 1980s before the advent of UAVs and satellites imagery. Not only is their technology is 30 years out of date, their tactics and operations planning is 50 years out of date.
