It's the end of an era for Netflix. While the service has long been praised for its total lack of ads and commercials, Netflix is reversing its course on the matter. On Tuesday, Deadline reported that Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings said that ads will soon be incorporated into the service.

Hastings' comments come shortly after Chief Product Officer Greg Peters acknowledged that there would be differences in pricing for subscriptions in different territories. Both Hastings and Peters discussed the current state of Netflix, and its future, during the company's first-quarter earnings call, which was posted to YouTube on Tuesday. During the interview, the CEO noted that they will begin to implement advertising on Netflix in the "next year or two."

"One way to increase the price spread is advertising on low-end plans and to have lower prices with advertising," Hastings said. "Those who have followed Netflix know that I've been against the complexity of advertising and a big fan of the simplicity of subscription." Even though he has been against the incorporation of advertising in the past, he acknowledged that this would be a necessary step for the streaming platform. He also said that this would be a positive for Netflix subscribers, as it will give them "consumer choice" and the ability to choose a cheaper subscription, albeit one with advertisements.

"But as much as I'm a fan of that, I'm a bigger fan of consumer choice," he continued. "Allowing consumers who would like to have a lower price and are advertising-tolerant get what they want makes a lot of sense. So, that's something we're looking at now, we're trying to figure out over the next year or two. Think of us as quite open to offering an even lower." Hastings was asked whether Netflix would be testing out advertisement-laced subscriptions options before they roll it out to the masses. But, he stated, "I don't think we have a lot of doubt that it works," he said. "I'm sure we'll just get in and figure it out as opposed to testing it and maybe get in or not. … I think we'll really get in."

It's unclear when exactly Netflix will implement this change. However, as Hastings stated, it could come as soon as 2023 or 2024. Netflix would be following suit with other streaming services, such as Peacock and Disney+, that allow users to choose whether they would like to pay more in order to have an ad-free experience. The Netflix CEO did stress that there would still be an ad-free option if subscribers wish to utilize it.

They could make the entire library of Netflix free and I would still only watch one or two of their shows occasionally, because as many have tried telling them loudly and often, the problem isn't the price so much as it's the content. The price does suck but it could be worth it if they weren't quadrupling down on wokeshit every day. For fucks sake they have an entire "adult animation series" about kids fucking and going through puberty and swearing. "Cuties" is a thing. They made a fucking Viking Jarl from history into a negress. They paid Kevin Smith to rape a beloved 80s cartoon series just for the lulz. They even managed to ruin the Witcher by packing it with diversity hires who can't act for shit and now they're changing storylines to make sure the audience sees a teenage Ciri getting her clit flicked by a lesbian who I'm sure will be a minority insert.

The only original shows Netflix has that are worth a shit are the history documentaries like WW2 stuff and Cobra Kai.

If you absolutely insist on using these services instead of pirating like a normal person, try to get a prepaid card from a country where netflix/HBO Max is cheaper like Mexico (about 50% cheaper compared to America). So long as your payment method comes from the country of origin you can enjoy the Burger version at a discount forever.

Congratulations, Netflix. You have now reduced yourself to the same category as cable TV networks after years of being one of the biggest catalysts to the philosophy of "cord-cutting."
I do unironically praise them for destroying the widespread dominance of cable television culturally, Netflix self sabotaging to eliminate the remnants of that which we call "binging" now would only sweeten the deal

Don't forget about the unnecessary gay sex scene in Castlevania.

These retards are just making the bleeding worse at this point. Content has gotten far worse over the years, and while they tried to fix that by producing their own originals, I cannot for the life of me think of anything off the top of my head beyond Bojack Horseman and Squid Game. It makes me wonder how much money they piss away making a million different variations of wokeshit. At the same time, the price keeps increasing. Why the hell would anyone pay for Netflix when HBO Max has a library of actually good shows and is cheaper? That's not even getting into their pilot attempts to start cracking down on password sharing - something that has been a cornerstone of Netflix for years.
I've seen some people on Twitter putting a lot of blame on their cancellation of animation projects, but that's not even the tip of the iceberg. There's simply little value proposition now, and it's made worse now that people aren't being forced by their government to be cooped up inside over the coof. Netflix is about to lose their market dominance.

>YouTube wants to be Netflix so fucking badly, they change their entire premise and website to be similar to them
>Now Netflix has become YouTube thanks to adding commercials and ads

Does Netflix want to crash and burn? Because this is how you crash and burn.
As much as I wish this, I'm not hopeful of this happening. For this to happen, a HUGE majority of people would have to outright cancel their subscriptions, and Netflix has given PLENTY of examples why you SHOULD cancel your subscription and/or not even have one in the first place.
  • DRM on their videos
  • Older shows/movies have censored/altered episodes/scenes
  • Woke shit like "Dear White People"
  • Pedo shit like "Cuties"
  • Constantly increasing their prices
  • Removing actual watchable content, longer running series all fucked up due to missing seasons either earlier or later.
Subscription services have become "the norm" now-a-days. Almost every fucking company has one, and almost every normalfag gives away their money to them.
