Santa Rosa County, Florida, Sheriff Bob Johnson told reporters Thursday his constituents save taxpayers money by shooting intruders.
WHIO reports that Johnson used a Thursday press conference to announce that 32-year-old Brandon J. Harris was arrested Wednesday.

The Charlotte Observer notes that Harris “has been arrested 17 times” and is now under arrest for alleged break-ins in the neighborhood of Pace.

Johnson explained that the time between when police were called and Harris was arrested was approximately 30 minutes. During that time, a homeowner shot at Harris but missed him.

The Pensacola News Journal points out that Johnson commented on the homeowner’s actions, saying, “One of the homeowners, he was breaking into their house, and they shot at him. So he continues to run. We finally corner him in a house that he broke into on Tom Sawyer and we cornered him in a bedroom.”

Johnson then assured the homeowner that he or she is not in trouble and actually noted that homeowners who shoot intruders save money for other tax-payers: “If someone’s breaking into your house, you’re more than welcome to shoot them in Santa Rosa County. We prefer that you do, actually. So, whoever that was, you’re not in trouble, come see us. We have a gun safety class we put on every other Saturday. If you take that, you’ll shoot a lot better, and hopefully you’ll save the taxpayers money.”

Honestly just the headline had me laughing, and the direct quote was priceless.

The humidity isn't bad if you can afford to live near the beach because the ocean breeze keeps you cool. Inland can be a swamp though, but it is much cheaper.
I almost fainted in Key West and I was pretty close to water. Humidity in the air is so stifling and the heat just does me in. Maybe further north is better.

Can confirm. Damn near died from excessive humidity in the Keys - in late September, FFS.

Avoid S FL in the summer months unless you enjoy swamp ass.

When I first came to the EC my first summer was awful. I was in NJ and it was 105F with nearly 100% humidity. Even with a/c just going outside for a few minutes was horrible. First and only time I needed an inhaler in my life.

Florida is the best, except that cost of living keeps skyrocketing because of NY and CA faggots. And I can't deal with the humidity anymore.
Yeah, if you can even find a house for sale, you most likely can't afford it. And, of course, all the urbanite liberals move in, never do any self-reflection, never admit that maybe they were wrong, and vote for the same policies that fucked up their own state. Or they try to flip houses, jack up the price, then wonder why no one can afford a place at the jacked-up price in a working-class, suburban, blue-collar neighborhood.

They should be forced to stay where they are, at least the NYC and LA cunts.

Thanks for fucking up the housing market, you parasites.

There's always Lehigh Acres lol.

maybe the Person missed because he had a smoothbore pistol?

How to solve crime: a practical approach
  1. Buy house in bad area
  2. Place huge wad of cash in prominent yet barred window
  3. Point automatic turret at locked front door
  4. Wait until scumbag breaks in
  5. Scumbag gets expeditiously ameliorated
  6. Replace door lock
  7. Is the area still bad? If so, return to step 4, otherwise return to step 1
Nice plan, but that'd be considered premeditated by the courts and thus not worthy of Castle Doctrine protection.

Better idea: lose the cash and the turret. Just bring in boxes of clearly marked high-end goods (TVs, gaming consoles, etc.) that criminals love to steal and fence. Wait for the scumbags to make their move and light them up with a 12-gauge loaded with buckshot. You'll have more plausible deniability ("I was just defending my home, officer.") and be firmly in the spirit of Castle Doctrine.

I wonder actually, how many times could you do that before the justice system starts wondering what's going on? If you're in a shitty enough neighborhood you could probably justify one a year, but if you're blowing away a dirtbag every week, they're probably going to figure out you're doing it on purpose.

Then again, I don't think there's a law against displaying high end electronics in your home, so if your house is getting broken into that often I doubt there's much they can do about it. They'd have to make it illegal to entice criminals, e.g. own nice stuff, and that would set a precedent I don't think anyone would be happy with.

Reminds me of some touchy-feely reporter who asked a Florida Sheriff why his Deputies had expended 30 rounds on a murder suspect who'd led them on a high-speed chase, crashed, and then drawn a gun on them.

And his reply was "Because that's all the ammo they had on them, if we'd had more, we'd have shot him more".
