Why are Australia/US mad about this? I thought they were OK with it in Ukraine. Besides, what's the big deal with a military base? China doesn't have the capability to invade Australia/US. It's just a military base.

Well, according to the experience gained in Middle East, at the very least they can drone strike the military base without facing any significant consequence.

Funny about that, it was much easier for someone that had never used a rifle to understand what they were beign taught. Someone like me, who had, was much more retarded and had to be untaught some pretty fuckign dumb shit. Learned that folks could be left eye or right eye dominant, independent of being right or left handed as an example. Damn near anyone can be taught the basics to be accurate enough to do what needed to be done.
And a side note to that, the best shot in my BT group was this very obviously gay fruit from san francisco. Never even held a gun before he started basic. Just an absolute deadeye! And to add to the funny, dude was a dead ringer for baked fatalaska, before he became McDonald's andy of course.

There has been calls in the Australian press that they must be willing to invade the Solomans over this.

What is actually going on with the UK and US wanting to escalate the war?
I get the UK wants to be tough so Borris can distract from his problems. They can be cavalier as Britain is always happy to fuck around in Europe. As if things get too bad they perceive themselves to be safe and separated on their island.
What is the US game? I know they want to exploit it politically, and damage Russia. Is it a case where Russia is achieving its goals, despite what the media says and they want to escalate the conflict to stop that? Create a protected war?

Overall, Mariupol is the only thing standing in the way of a Russian invasion at this point. It's funny because Mariupol was already encircled since day one of the invasion, and it's been 2 months since. They didn't have a large supply of weapons, this was a big city so food won't last long, and they had no logistical support (at least for the most part). Mariupol is encircled by thousands of kilometers, it's one of the few places Russia has air superiority at, and the Russians can just bombard them from land, air and sea. The Ukrainians only have land defense and a limited amount of it. They had to take the enemy's weapons and food on numerous occasions because the supplies are cut, almost 100% of the city is destroyed, electricity has been gone since the early days of the assault and yet there's still 1,000 - 2,000 people left still fighting, many of whom are injured and are getting gangrene because of a lack of supplies. But yet Russia has already dumped 70% of its high precision artillery arsenal into Ukraine already and we're not even a year in - ALMOST ALL ON ONE CITY! They're now resorting to unguided dumb bombs in some scenarios now. Just imagine all the precision artillery (smart bombs) the US has now. RUSSIA HAS THE SAME FUCKING NUMBER IF NOT HIGHER! That is high intensity warfare taken to another level. That's already supersaiyan intensity warfare. Mariupol was a massive waste of resources for Russia on an enemy that knows the area, knows how to fight and are not willing to give up because they are driven by revenge against Russian imperialism and don't want to be their subject and ruin every forthcoming generation. This is like Waco x1,000,000 right here and these dudes are still inflicting heavy losses on Russia through ambushes, destroying equipment, and so on and up to 50 Russians are neutralized or wounded every day. Many of the Russian officer KIAs were from Mariupol. And they are now sitting inside an underground city defending the last bit of it since they couldn't prepare themselves for the capture with their families holed inside.
But let's look at things from the bright side, on April 23rd, the Ukrainian troops were resupplied (which I guess includes more weapons, first aid and food/water), so they can hold off longer. On April 19th, president Zelensky stated that the country was able to soon see a huge turn of events due to the stalling of Russian forces as they direct all their resources at Mariupol in a desperate bid to take the city with what's left of it being the only missing piece of the puzzle left, and within the next 2-3 weeks, they will start a new counteroffensive. They're gearing up for it because America is supplying them with massive amounts of up-to-date state-of-the-art sophisticated military tech (some of which being previously classified stuff they intended just for a scenario like this) and from there they will be able to break the encirclement.
This is some Modern Warfare shit. Just imagine holding an opponent like that off for 2 months with no proper air defense. Maybe the next addition to the CoD franchise will be Modern Warfare: Mariupol. This scenario was really a nightmare for both sides however, given the training of the soldiers involved (Azov - detachment from the Ukrainian Special Forces or Spetsnaz (Spetsnaz isn't exclusive to Russia, other countries had it)), their unwillingness to give up and that fucking tunnel that they're about to lose to. How is arming the Ukrainians 'escalating the war.' The UK and the US have been training the Ukrainians for almost a decade at this point. Russia knew the second it stepped into Ukraine it was going to have contend with western armaments.
With the amount the Ukrainians are bleeding the Russians, military gibs are a bargain. Plus it's the perfect place to test out all the shiny new tech the US and UK have developed over the last two decades.
There's no magic or conspiracy to it. The Russians are geostrategic enemies and tossing some javelins to the Ukrainians cucks them for pennies on the dollar.
