My personal pet peeves with these 'trans headcanon' and fanart is that it would never really hold up in 'realistic' anatomy. You may put mastectomy on a figure with male skeletal proportion and say that this is ftm, and you may just put a penis on a perfectly female figure in art, but it isn't how it works in reality at all - Most people I know who do visual art and says that tranny can perfectly pass seem to be pretty horrible at realistic anatomy.
But it is not always... ..or not, or there's a catch? Here's some tranny who is into more 'realistic art'... this person which is actually an instructor for Zbrush, Madeleine Scott-Spencer (formerly Scott Spencer) - he was educated in classical figure sculpting, working in movie fx industry, and performed cadaver lab studies in support of multiple artists anatomy projects. - What I laso noticed that troons either gravitate to cutesy you're seeing often, or they go full Slaanesh and love the visceral horror of flesh, blood and... bondage gear. this one is the latter
He isn't a cow and tried his best to pass, never chimp outs anywhere, and never mention anything trans-related on his twitter... but I put him up for a discussion about trans art, their psyche, and how they do it.
It is common when male artists became so obsessed with female form that they want to become one. (although he mostly sculpt monsters now) Lili Elbe of the 'Danish Girl' was one, and I know a few artists (including a close friend) who trooned out to chase out their narcissus-pygmalion coomer dream. - but it would require a great cognitive dissonance... isn't it? because being good at (classical style) art mean you'll recognise that passing is bullshit.
And also what is it with troons and trying to LARP as goth chicks?
The curious thing to me is that yes, he teaches sculpting, he teaches artistic anatomy, this is a guy who has spent a length of time in real deal art school and dissecting corpse. He also does write about teaching anatomy in his blog, talking about all these things you'd expect from a figure sculptor.
And yet with all of his education and career... why the fuck his sculpting and art just feels so generic and boring? I would have expected much more from Gnomon Prestige. You can find thousands of more talented sculptor in Artstation, and many more who can design even more interesting monsters than him and knows the better way to play around with anatomy other than making these elongated gender-vague demons. Maybe it is true after all with 'troons can't do anatomy' even if they try

You're right, I (unfortunately) ran into a few "male character reimagined as trans" art pieces back in the day and they were always dudes built like The Rock except with added mastectomy scars. It's probably part delusion, part artists knowing that if they make the character look too "feminine" they will be accused of transphobia and triggering people's dysphoria.

Trooning out will make everyone who knows you afraid to criticize you in any way (even in helpful ways) because they have been told that you are on a hair-trigger for suicidality. It also discourages you from any honest self-introspection or self-knowledge. I imagine that both of those things are absolute poison for creativity and good art.
I mentioned this in the Philosophy Tube thread the other day, but it's amazing that if you go back around 5 years or so, female-heavy SJW places like Tumblr were extremely pro-transwoman, in the cringey way that a lot of libfems are today. These spaces are still pro-trans (because they're full of Aidens), but in practice most of them can't seem to stand transwomen (almost certainly due to having interacted with transwomen). Given that Tumblr is usually 5-10 years ahead of the general population when it comes to SJW stuff, it will be interesting to see how the pattern plays out with the libfems.
