I don't agree. I think algorithms definitely have utility - the internet is a firehose pointed at the teacup of your brain and manually trying to find what's relevant to you would take so much time you'd be lucky to ever find it.

But the more public such algorithms are, the easier it is to see clear evidence of agenda-driven bias.
