It's an entertaining anecdote, but I believe this one's a troll. The part about the noxious smell resembling sweaty ballsack piqued my troll-dar pretty hard. It's hilarious that it's being taken seriously, though. It's clever trolling. He uses the troon's preferred pronouns and doesn't outright insult him or call him slurs, and instead goes for the "open-minded but confused/ignorant" dude-bro.
The probability of it being true is just minimal, IMO. I don't believe anyone could go on "a few dates" with a troon and not know it's a troon. Come on. I might have bought it if he'd said it was a Tinder blind date, but no way he spent hours with this person without realizing they were a guy.

Not troons, but I have a straight friend who will get plastered at the gay bar with us and then almost take the "girls" home on drag nights.
