I think for one, TVXQ! is the most unique, special, iconic, complicated and powerful name ever in the history of all groups, not just Kpop. Most groups name are usually taken from english letters and shortened form (eg: Bigbang or B.A.P), or just something cliche you pull from English words like Teen Top or Tiara for example. Eventhough they sound good and seems pretty nice, it's nothing new and special tbh.. TVXQ! on the other hand is a brand new name that has never been seen before, nothingwas and will be able to match this most iconic name ever, allow me to elaborate on this further...

TVXQ! or TVfXQ! is an initialism for Tong Vfang Xien Qi(Chinese: 東方神起).

In Japan they are known as THSK; an initialism forTOHOSHINKI(Japanese: 東方神起)

While in Korea, they are known as DBSK, an abbreviation of their Korean nameDong Bang Shin Ki(Hangul: 동방신기)

Their name in english literally translate toGods Of The East

Do you notice something?? This is a play of 4 syllables words, something that holds a special meaning in Eastern mythology, it even worked for their english names

DONG BANG SHIN KI / 동 방 신 기 / D B S K TO HO SHIN KI / 東 方 神 起 / T H S K TONG VFANG XIEN QI / 東 方 神 起 / T V X Q! GODS OF THE EAST / G O T E

There are also the facts that the members stage names are also consisted of 4 syllables words play...:

U-Know Yunho Hero Jaejoong/Youngwoong Jaejoong Micky Yoochun XIAH Junsu Choikang Changmin/MAX Changmin/MAXIMUM Changmin

U(1) KNOW(2) YUN(3) HO(4)

HE(1) RO(2) JAE(3) JOONG(4) / YOUNG(1) WOONG(2) JAE(3) JOONG(4)

MIC(1) KY(2) YOO(3) CHUN(4)

XI(1) AH(2) JUN(3) SU(4)

CHOI(1) KANG(2) CHANG(3) MIN(4)

MAX Changmin is the short term for MAXIMUM Changmin which orginated from Choikang Changmin, they worked for 3 and 5 syllables words play but not 4 so i'll give you that one lol...

Number 4 also hold a special meaning in eastern mythology, it can be considered bad luck or something along the line (the lawsuits and seperation lol?)

What about their fandoms name? Well for one, we all know TVXQ! have 2 official names for their fanclubs. The first one is calledCassiopeia for their Korean and worldwide fans, the 2nd one is calledBIGEAST for their Japanese only fans.

What is Cassiopeia??? Well, Cassiopeia is a constellation as you all know. Cassiopeia as a fandom name is very symbolic. Both of them and their fans. Cassiopeia is a constellation with 5 points in the night sky, coincidentally enough these five points if lined up on a keyboard connect the letters T, V, F, X, and Q (which formed TVfXQ!) and it also formed the shaped ofW, something that symbolize DBSK since the beginning of their debut. It also made sense why there is one of JYJ's song called W, which is a message to their fans and Yunho/Changmin. No matter where you are, on earth and in life…..no matter what you are going through or how you are feeling….Look up in the night sky and you’ll see TVfXQ!...Our cassiopeia right there with you.. Illuminating your dark night and being right there besides you no matter what. They are there besides each and everyone of us giving us light and hope….and as Cassiopeia we illuminate right back for them, as much as they are there for us, we are there for them. The audience and TVfXQ as one. As Cassiopeia. As the Red Ocean, an unstoppable wave.

The "W" shaped by Cassiopeia formed the words TVfXQ! while the letters of TVfXQ! while lined up together on keyboard formed the shaped of "W". This means they are always one and relies on each other

It can also be interpret as the shaped of "W" formed by Cassiopeia is a constellation under the sky ruled amd watched by TVfXQ! (since they are the Gods Of The East apparently lol). That or maybe the shaped "W" formed by Cassiopeia in the sky is also a symbol to tell us that "This is TVfXQ!'s territory and all of us are under their reign bitcheslol...

When you read the lyrics of Rising Sun, Tri-Angle, Free Your Mind, MAXIMUM, Android, Creation, One Kiss, MINE, In Our Time, Break Out!, Survivor, Humanoids, 'O' Jung Ban Hap, Hide and Seek, FATED, Refuse To Lose, Ai Wo Motto, Believe In You and many of their other songs, you would realized how much they inserted eastern influence in the production of their music/arts/lyrics and such.. They are literally preaching about social issues, war, peace, love, corruptions and self-awareness like....these guys are freaking amazing!

That being said, what does BigEast stands for?? I guess everyone can make their own conclusion by now... TVXQ! are Gods, the W in Cassiopeia stands for sovereign seal to symbolize that we are under their sky and reigns, BigEast stands for their empire and rules in the East because they are the Gods who rises from there just like a Rising Sun that rises from the East.... It also fits in the narrative that they are literally theBIGGEST BOYBAND IN ASIA from 2000 - 2011, and still are to this date. Their status and achievements as thegreatest foreign artist in Japan (the biggest music market in the EAST & 2nd largest in the world) are the prime evidences to that claim. Do you think all of these amazing names, fandoms, 4 syllables characters, symbolics, events, lawsuits/seperations, lyrics, songs, status, titles are coincidences??? Or is it a FATED decided by the DIVINE? Stay tuned..... in the next episode of DBZ for the amazing ride with TVXQ! & JYJ too in the future

If Sulli went through that, then you can be sure current and past idols went through it.

In March 2014, BoA was appointed as a de facto creative director in S.M. Entertainment, alongside labelmate Kangta; she was placed in charge of mental care of artists who debut at a young age.

I wonder what BoA thinks about it, she was scouted around the same age. I imagine that even if she ever wanted to say anything she'd "suicide", or maybe she was fine with it because some people just want to be famous no matter what.

I’m not a fan of Boa (I just occasionally listen to some of her music) but I do feel bad for her as she’s been in the k pop industry for most of her life. She debuted really young but she surprisingly ended up somewhat normal compared to other K Pop stars who debuted young.

Wow... she really did such a shit job at taking care of the mental health of other SM artists. I doubt anything in K pop will ever change it’s such BS. Korea doesn’t give a shit about mental health. Therapy is basically non existent there. I’m pretty sure Jonghyun from Shinee tried to get mental help and the therapist blamed his depression on his personality. You’d think that maybe something would happen after Jonghyun’s suicide and how “the entire nation was shocked” but no, Sulli killed herself like a year later. It would be nice if SM ent actually started putting more emphasis on the mental health of their artists but I doubt it will ever happen.

In South Korea. The way Hardcore fans usually promote their favorite group, is to typically buy the 50 or so albums they need to get a fanmeet ticket, then hand out the remaining copies to friends or strangers in hopes that they will also become fans.

For people in the West however, that's not really an option, since they not only have to fly to Korea, they also need to speak Korean. So what do the Western fans do instead?

Loona is probably the biggest example of what happens with Western fans.. Loona is a 12 member group, who had a pre-debut period where each had a solo music video before they debuted as a group. Very unusual and expensive plan in Kpop. They received a luke-warm response in Korea, but in the West they became hugely popular, not only for the storyline of the 12 MV's. But also the more Western genres and lesbian undertones in some videos.

So to promote the group, hardcore fans started a grassroots marketing campaign, with #Stanloona.

Fans would even hijack other trending topics on Twitter to promote Loona. Even if the topics were about deaths or disasters.

Eventually Stan Loona became so prolific on Twitter, Elon Musk and Grimes became fans.

During this period, Western Loona fans also were successful in pushing a fake story that two of the members of the group were Lesbian Billionaires that got married. The story became so viral, news sites actually had to post a debunking. This only served to give more promotion to Loona.

Along with that, hardcore fans were making and posting constant memes of the group.

This all came to a head when Loona came to LA for their first Western appearance, along with other big name groups, for KCON. The fans for Loona dwarfed the other big groups popular in Korea. Which shocked the Loona members, as they were almost unknown back home.

It goes to show how effectively Western hardcore kpop fans can work the online space.

In the video, the flight attendants responded to a few comments netizens asked about idols going on the flight. One netizen wrote, "When you go to the airport to see your idol, you can purchase the ticket and take pictures of them, then ask for a refund at the boarding gate, right?" After reading this comment, the flight attendants let out a deep sigh and continued to say, "I hope you don't do this."

Another issue the flight attendants brought up is the large cameras that the Sasaeng fans would bring onto the flight to take photos of the idols. One flight attendant pointed out, "They being a big telephoto lens on the plane and take pictures of the idols, and I'd have a panic attack if that was me." The other flight attendant explained, "One time, some idol fan gave me a voice recorder and asked me to record the conversation with the idol."

kpop stans are sooo dumb i can't believe how dumb they are lmao

also Dreamcatcher had their first show win today!

From my experience on the internet, many of the Western fans of Kpop are into social justice. Now since South Korea is a very conservative country, you'd think that SJW's would have nothing to grab onto right? No actually. A big thing in the Western Kpop fandom is "cultural appropriation".

This usually happens when a group or idol decides to take some inspiration for their next music/image concept from another culture. It's always without fail the cultures that the SJW's deem to be on the lower progressive stack. Such as Islanders or Africans. You will never see them angry about a Viking concept.

Entire videos have been devoted to calling out and harassing idols who are using this "appropriated culture". Even though almost everything is outside the idols control in these companies. And the concepts aren't even derogatory, they are simply calling them out just for using them. To SJW's they are a protected class.

Other times in South Korean media, Kpop fans get very angry when they see something like blackface in SK media. Even though they know that the South Koreans never enslaved any Blacks, and often don't even know it's a taboo thing in the west. They want the SK culture to bend to their Western culture. Hmmm kinda colonialist isn't it?

South Korean Kpop is a music industry unto itself. It often borrows musical genres in order to push the envelope and progress the scene. For example in the last few months they've borrowed instruments and beats from Middle Eastern and Indian influences for songs such as IVE - Eleven. And Loona - PTT. Among others. Last year I believe there were some Spanish and Mexican influences.

The most interesting for me however was a form of rap. This originated in Japan after being influenced by the Hip Hop scene in the US. At it's core it's really just an Japanese girl quietly and sometimes melodically rapping.

But as Kpop does, it decided to give this genre a go, complete with Japanese Lolita dress.

I hope you aren't implying anything about Kangta or Yunho??

Come on, BoA isn't a therapist and has her own schedule, she can't attend to the mental health needs of the dozens of SME artists. But if an actual therapist said that to Jonghyun... He was an amazing man and it was a real loss. That 'doc' should lose their fucking license.

While I agree that Korea shouldn't be held to Western 'social justice' standards, they absolutely know that this particular example of blackface is racist.

Actually, people from other countries really don't. When I went to Australia in 2000 for the Olympics. I saw a blackface skit on primetime. The only reason people discovered it was offensive, is because Harry Connick Jr was a guest and threw a shitfit live.

Hardcore Western Kpop fans can be incredibly autistic about Kpop and their favorite groups. So much so, that they document everything about the group. This has resulted in wikis and guides that track the entirety of a groups progress, line up changes, cross over promotions etc... On youtube there are countless channels that chronicle the Kpop world. Many of them are female Korean speakers who track things coming directly out of Korea and the industry. The problem with their analysis, is they are often usually criticizing Kpop through the Western "grrl power" "SLAY QUEEN" lens. All the while drooling over the male Kpop idols abs and pecs. So you really have to wade through some whining about inconsequential bullshit. Occasionally though, they just give some straight up information on the realities of the industry.

Interesting is this video. Where the members of a group reveal what training they have. Training in selfies, training in Tiktok. It seems every public discourse is trained and controlled.

Sorry I forgot to add an extra Japanese reference.

I think the cultural aspect of South Korea is a shithole so massive that even I, from a third world country shithole wouldn't want to live there.
It is almost like a over capitalist results above anything society that even the pop culture there isn't a trace of sincerity, just marketing bullshit.
Maybe it is really a consoomer paradise in the big cities, but for me every single aspect of it looks fake and plastic.
