I mostly use Twitter to look at art and today I’ve seen so much complaining from artists that their livelihoods are going to be destroyed because they have to leave, and some of them are planning to go back to Tumblr. A few have been more sane about it, but I just find this all so funny because I remember being on Tumblr when everything was going to shit because of the porn ban. Obviously NSFW accounts couldn’t stay, but even other users’ posts and accounts were being nuked left and right because Tumblr’s porn-detecting algorithm didn’t work properly, and everyone decided they just didn’t want to deal with that. The mass exodus of users from Tumblr, both willing and unwilling, gutted its art community, and those who kept their accounts just used them as an archive and still mainly moved on to Twitter. And now those same people are saying Twitter’s hopeless now and they have to go back to the place they helped destroy because... Elon might let people make transphobic jokes? Lol. Leaving Tumblr might’ve been necessary, but this time they’re creating their own problems. Is it just going to be an endless cycle of annoying people jumping back and forth from Tumblr to Twitter whenever something they don’t like happens? (I hope not, because Tumblr pretty much became a chill shitposting website when its most annoying users left.)
