@A_throwaway_name62919 Agreed on how Russia going for undisputed Ukrainian territory has bit them in the ass for this war, and going for Kiev, even IF a feint has done extreme damage to the looks of this invasion alone. Makes it very hard to argue that Russia wasn't going for either Regime Change or the whole fucking pie. Them saying publicly "We want to take the entire coastline!" is also boneheaded. If this thing was only focused on Donbass, this thing would have ended long ago, and Ukraine would have come to the table very quickly. Instead, they turned a war many Ukrainians wanted to just end and give up on Donbass into one of national survival, either for a Ukrainian state at all or preventing it to turn into a total rump state.

Seriously, Zelensky was voted in almost entirely because he wanted to end the Donbass war, sure it didn't happen, but it did show that willingness to fight the Russians and possibly die over Donbass would have been minimal, but that changes when it becomes fight the Russians and possibly die over Ukraine when you're a Ukrainian.

In a perfect world where Nato wasn't a bunch of bloodthirsty thugs and intervened while ignoring the UN and Kosovo remained Serbian, I would be more inclined to say that the Russian Donbass thing was a stupid idea.

When did I ever mention NATO? You seem to be avoiding the question. Let me rephrase my question: why is Kosovo separatism bad to you, while Donbas separatism good? Both are separatist movements, technically. Is it just because Kosovo is more supported by the west, while DNR and LNR are supported by Russia?
Likewise if you think that the west shelling sand niggers is bad, why do you justify Russia shelling the shit out of Chechnya? Is it because Russia did it?

Not much point in playing this game and pointing fingers. As long as the West remains inconsistent in applying it moral standards, it cannot pretend to be a force of justice and virtue - and yet it does, very pointedly.

I think a factor here is that western countries aren't authoritarian regimes, and you don't get up to 15 years locked up for protesting against western invasion of some country. In Russia if you criticize the war in Ukraine (or call it war and not "special military operation") you can get up to 15 years for spreading disinformation. In the US if you criticize the war in Afghanistan and Iraq you'll get zero prison time.

I think a factor here is that western countries aren't authoritarian regimes, and you don't get up to 15 years locked up for protesting against western invasion of some country.

Looking at January 6, they are quckly getting there. They got how many years for protesting, 4? Or was it 6? And some of them were handed in by their family members. AND THEY ARE LYNCHING NEGROES who can't breathe. /sarcasm

I'm doing it all the time and still haven't been jailed since I am not a media agency. The disinformation law does not apply to you as long as you link to a source, which you may observe I am also doing here. Note that I am not supporting the law, which is retarded beyond words - but I am not aware of it actually being put to use even once. Russian lawmaking tends to put egregious punishments in the book just in case and then does fuck all to apply them.

Oh, and the EU implemented its own disinformation laws literally yesterday with punishments that are just as severe.

I too used to think the West was a land of milk and honey where human rights are sacrosanct and whose intentions are ultimately aimed at the betterment of humanity. Its actions in this war were a bit of an eye opener and led to a bitter disappointment.
