It really depends on how the girls are on a personal level, although this perception might come from the usual stereotype of the geeky asian girls and the exoticism that helps people in seduction. Besides, there are schizos everywhere lol!
Even the more rabid fans won't do guerilla shit to stop these guys, and they can muster some serious effort to fuck over guys like that. Shit like that is notoriously hard to stop, they set shop in the ass end of nowhere, and by the time any repercussions might happen they've already closed up and moved to the next scam. Considering how crazy expensive the merch sales can be, it's not surprising that some chinese guy is making knock-off Nijisanji plushies and selling them for pennies on the dollar compared to the real deal, as long as some broke guy has to choose between spending hundreds on some chuuba merch or paying rent, it's obvious they will be on the market for the cheaper version!

Kiara is understandable because early on and for quite awhile she has a VERY selfish and "me me me I should be given all of the glory, not others" type personality which is disgusting. Yes she's been through shit but it's still no excuse. Then her pity parties she used to throw constantly and her overly annoying voice. She's easy to hate. Calli is just hated because she didn't jump onto the parasocial ship that so many western vtuber fans enjoy. I don't personally hate Kiara (I used to support Keeki for her photosets when she did patreon/personal selling) but I'll always dislike anyone who toss pity parties unnecessarily without changing a damn thing, that personality is so present in the EN vtubing sphere it's why I can't get into too many indies, aside the weekly drama.
It's more so the rigging and capturing that's costly. Models themselves aren't that expensive comparatively, so at least thats a 1 time cost, how they go about using it will be the more expensive aspect e.g they use a studio or want to do skits etc its so much more easier in a controlled environment, but also more expensive in the long run.
Omega is a type of manager like A-Chan, so more than likely since the EN girls are still doing quite a bit but in terms of their own "activities" probably nothing til the En girls are on hologra and the like.
