Im still struggling with the PPP can be replaced sentiment.
I've never done a stream, but it seems to me hard to be able to Be witty, funny, AND be able to truly ayyylawg live on air with the fervor PPP seems to pull off MOST shows.
Yeah, anyone who thinks Andy is "the hard to replace one" here is sniffing gas fumes. Name a funnier person in the sector, from the top on down? Maybe Metokur? Honestly, tastewise, I like PPP more, but Metokur can have a good argument for him. Godwinson? Seems retired from the scene at this point. Anybody else? I legit mean that as a question as if there is someone making funnier content than PPP, please let me know so I can watch!
That being said, I like what Andy brings to the table and wish him the best on his semi-Sobriety Journey. I agree that he needs to accept his "Ed McMahon meets Bababooey" role in this dynamic and keep getting the donos. Get paid, Andy, you don't have to be the star! Just let PPP rant and he can laugh in the background. He does fine with OBS, getting guests on, etc. and basically setting up the infrastructure of the show. He is also much more of a people person than Ashton, at least when he is coke-free.
However, the powerchats aspect is getting completely out of control. It's a good problem to have , but it probably caught them by surprise. They need to set a floor at $20 or something. I also liked Josh's policy during the short time he had superchats: "I'll only read them if they're funny or add something to the stream". Maybe it's just a generational thing that I don't get as a relative oldtard, but there's something cringe about "you MUST read my chat as I gave you two dollars!" "OOH, my e-daddy just read my avatar name on air!" A lot of chats are just "great job guys, keep it up, here's a bad joke that everybody has already made!" It's like Reddit, it rhymes.
Josh v. PPP: I don't think it is the gay thing. PPP takes all kinds of shit on the chin and doesn't chimp out. What I think TRULY hurt PPP was when Josh refused his offer to go on the Casino. Josh basically said "I'm a fan, but I should just stay a fan. Whenever I get involved with PPP drama, something goes wrong". Something about the notion that he is such a drama-stirrer that even somebody with a torched rep like Joshua Moon isn't interested in being his drama buddy really pushed PPP off the rails. That seemed to be the turning point. I don't blame Josh for a second for this one. He has no shortage of drama and bullshit to deal with and I can see why he would see PPP's friendship as a net negative. I like both of their shows, honestly, and I wish they got along and could do content together. But it probably just isn't happening any time soon.
