It's bullshit, but the EU has been running on jenk fumes for a long time and deserves everything that's coming. LNG is inherently a lot more expensive than piped gas, so even after spending many billions of Euros over many years to upgrade and expand all the infrastructure it requires, the end result is a permanent increase in costs.

Germany already had some of the most expensive electricity in the world as of 2021. A lot of their industry just isn't viable without cheap Russian gas. That means large scale unemployment, and a huge drop in living standards, with no end in sight.
