I also find the level of complacency in Democrat circles very disturbing. It doesn't make any sense to me that they're so calm and unconcerned about the mid-terms and Biden's crashing popularity levels.

To me it either means:
1. They've pretty much accepted that shit is going south and given up. Saving themselves for the 2024 run
or
2. They know something we don't.

Every week or two some polling firm that is a reputable enough leftist approved organization puts out numbers showing the Biden administration is in the gutter and Republicans are tied or better on a generic ballot. The media apparatus rationalizes that it would be suspicious to not report at all on polling that in many occasions they themselves paid for and/or is named after them, like an NBC poll has to be talked about on NBC and MSNBC, right? So they do the bare minimum coverage. They put a person in front of a board or big graphic of the numbers to say something like, "These are really bad numbers for the administration. Historically a presidential administration polling this poorly means that president's political party suffers in the midterms" and then the infotainment news just moves right along to whatever the rest of the script is.

They don't really stick with it and do a deep dive and its more than just, Oh, that's the ADHD 24/7 infotainment news cycle for ya, what are ya gonna do. If they want to stick with something, they can and do for whole shows and blocks of programming for hours but they just never stick with the polling topic. Lots of times it right on to another story that is not about domestic elections, it is usually Russia/Ukraine stuff and COVID variant Yabba Dabba Do and some other foreign news. There's no indication that these people are sincerely freaked out by what should be a certainty of Democrats losing congress with a high possibility of them getting schlonged like in 2010.
