They said his helmet and goggles were expected to go on sale at auction soon in London, although gave no further details

When you're supposed to be the main and biggest rival to America, it really comes off bad that ya only capture one city, destroy another and nab a bunch pisstake villages. And these silly sad sacks want to nab Odesa as well? Ivan really has let the ol' glory days go to his head.
Regardless of whether or not they can defeat the Russians Militarily in the end, the Ukrainians have lost this war. Ukraine is done as a country for the foreseeable future, as of yesterday 5,429,739 people have fled the country according to the UN and it is safe to assume that the vast majority are Women and Children. Before the war Ukraine only had 7.5M Under-18's compared to more than 10M over 60. I highly doubt many are going to want to come back to a a corrupt, bombed out Eastern European shithole after getting a taste of life in the EU. Some may not even be able to if they previously lived in the area that could comprise the Kherson/Kharkiv People's Republic for example. At the very least thousands (but more likely tens of thousands) of Young Ukranian men many of whom were childless have died and with them their potential of fathering children and growing the economy. Thousands if not tens of thousands more have been made cripples. Many Billions of dollars worth of damage have been done to property and infrastructure, rebuilding funds will be stolen, embezzled, misused and pissed away. Demining and EOD work will take years if not decades.

The heartburn between the Chechens and Russia has reasonably deep roots. The following happened under my namesake.

chechens simping for russia are the most buck broken people on planet earth, along with the germans doing the same

if post war ukraine aligns with the west there's a good chance that they'll be flooded with massive amounts of economic aid and reconstruction efforts from washington and brussels
those parts that end up under russian control however will be looking at a very bleak future indeed

There once was an old lady called Russia
Always came off as a bit of a bluffer
Now, even the old lads don't want to muff her
As she squats on her worn out old slav legs
It's so sad, to see her suffer

But some saw their chance to get stuck right in
While the old tart was down on her uppers
To the whole world's chagrin, they believed in the spin
And soon they will beg for their suppers

It's a story so old, it should be coated in Gold
When you dig a ditch for another
You should always first, before quenching your thirst
Dig the first ditch for your own brother

Because it's he who will fight, face the old slag's might
When she's begging and down on her uppers
It's not so easy you see, when reality
Comes and serves you breakfast for supper

And all you brave men, women as well
Who take joy in the pain of another
Well, just you just wait - this will be your fate
While you curse and cast spells for your brother

Slow his blood flows, but certain he knows
His end comes just like no other
But that's just the thing - too many of him
Another man dead in a gutter

So think ye more well
Before you start to tell
Of the downfall of another
It isn't just fate, it isn't just hate
That tears us apart from each other

Love as well as you can
Cos that's the main plan
To put us all back
Together

They both died in battle at the same time. It's how they would have wanted it!

People going nowhere, taken for a ride
Looking for the answers that they know inside
Searching for a reason, looking for a rhyme
Snow White's mirror said "partners in crime!"
Don't they ever have to worry? Don't you ever wonder why?
It's a part of me that tells you
Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die
Never, never, never say die again Sunday's satisfaction,
Monday's home and dry Truth is on the doorstep, welcome in the lie
All dressed up in sorrow, got no place to go Hold back,
`till it's ready, taking it slow Don't they ever have to worry?
Don't you ever wonder why? It's a part of me that tells you
Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die Never, never, never say die
again Don't you ever say die Don't you ever say die
Never say die Panic, silver lining, writing's on the wall
Children get together, you can save us all Future's on the corner,
throwing us a die Slow down, turn around, everything's fine
There's no need to have a reason There's no need to wonder why
It's a part of me that tells you Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die
Never, never, never say die again

People going nowhere, taken for a ride
Truth is on the doorstep, welcoming the lie...

Just like Iraq and Afghanistan were? Those two success stories of financial efficiency and rebuilding?
no, more like japan and germany were.
american nation building efforts in sandnigger shitholes were a fools errant, but ukraine is not in need of nation building, nor is it a sandnigger shithole. if they join the european economy, there's nothing preventing them from achieving similar levels of prosperity as poland or czechia.

I met a traveller from an antique land,

Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

In the heat of the night In the heat of the day
When I close my eyes When I look your way
When I meet the fear that lies inside When I hear you say
In the heat of the moment Say, say, say Some day, some day, some day,
Dominion Come a time Some day, some day, some day, Dominion
Some say prayers Some say prayers I say mine
In the light of the fact On the lone and level Sand stretch far away
In the heat of the action In the settled dust
Hold hold and say In the meeting of mined
Down in the streets of shame In the betting of names on gold to rust
In the land of the blind Be... King, king, king, king
Some day, some day, some day, Dominion
Come a time Some day, some day, some day, Dominion
Some say prayers Some say prayers I say mine
Some day, some day, some day, Dominion Some…

Putin is Ozymandias:

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

...

On the lone and level Sand stretch far away...

no, more like japan and germany were.
Japan and Germany are not even comparable, those were under American occupation.
Ukraine is a corrupt shithole barely better than MENA Nations

Here is what is going to happen when the rebuilding effort starts
-Say the Ukrops get $50B
-Pandora Papers Zelenskyy and his inner circle are going to take $10B
-The Ukrop Oligarchs and Mafia will get around $20B out of the process
-Corrupt officials and project waste will bleed off another few Billion
-Inflation and insane material costs will make it so the remaining unmolested money will do less than originally intended.

Can more than likely see Russian assets being pumped into Ukraine after this, if Russia goes ahead and tries to create its own tribunal of sorts, delving within itself and casting aside the international community, then it's far more likely that the six hundred odd billion locked by the banks, will eventually be funnelled into Ukraine to make up for the damage. Russia on the other hand is seeing its people, those working in the tech sector fleeing into the former baltic states, if it can't hold on to its most valuable , then they're simply going lag further behind in the tech sector and continue to be dwarfed by the Americans. Silly buggers have claimed the price of the big baddy that everyone wanted them to have during the cold war, whilst at the same time, given the Ukrainians the title of underdog, they shot themselves in the foot and then for good measure, shot themselves in the other. Tactically, Ukraine suffers economically during the war, Russia on the other hand will suffer far longer.

The rebuidling might take a decade or so, but nothing in comparison to the likes of after world war two, that was rebuilding entire countries, at most, you're scraping up corpses and removing mines and bomb fragments here.

here's nothing preventing them from achieving similar levels of prosperity as poland or czechia.
Bohemia fucked itself when they deported all the germans, it was a pretty rich area before and till the end of ww2. now its just a production hub for german companies.
Poland on the other hand is now richer than ever before, mostly because they stole a bunch of good german lands. Danzig is the only major polish city that isnt a total shithole, and nothing worth while in it was build in the last 80 years.

I mean if widespread damage to the country is the definition of "losing the war", then I hope you are of the opinion that America won the Iraq War because otherwise I've got a bridge to sell you...

Thanks Obama for discontinuing the Space Shuttle. This is the ultimate middle finger to the US because there is fuck all we can do about this.

The Russians own the ISS now. lol
The hell? Have you paid no attention to space news beyond headlines that the space shuttle was discontinued? It was decommissioned during the Obama era because it was fundamentally unsafe. Aging shuttles and no good way to prevent a repeat of the Columbia disaster. So they let it die in favor of putting money towards replacements with the Commercial Crew program. Boeing hasn't gotten it's shit together yet, but SpaceX competed it's Crew Dragon spacecraft that just sent its fourth crew to the ISS and has a cargo variant delivering cargo as well. Russia has no more control over the ISS than they've had all along - which is to say the ISS relies on power from the Russian modules the same way it relies on the US modules for other things. The only advantages the space shuttle had over the dragons is cargo space, but that's more to do with it having a large bay where they could do shit like service satellite, not anything to do with ongoing use and maintenance of the ISS.

"The British Ministry of Defense has reportedly seen indications that Russian President Putin is preparing a Statement for May 9th during the Victory Parade in Moscow, which its expected a General Mobilization and a Declaration of War against Ukraine will be declared."

The Brit MOD are known for being a lot less reliable than the French MOD in covering this war but I would be agreeing with them on this one and while the draft might be unpopular in Russia, it's just the next logical step to win this war.

The Russians simply need maybe 500.000-700.000 men and a lot more artillery to pull this invasion off.

This war will be very brutal and will be an artillery duel the likes of which we haven't seen in a really long time.
