When I was a child, my mom told me that only black people play basketball because when they were in Africa, they would have to throw the coconuts in baskets in the trees so animals couldn't get to them. I always think of that when I see basketball games.

Funny tale. Even funnier story: basketball as a black sport is cultural appropriation. It was made by a white guy in Massachusetts so that athletes could have indoor sports for the winter months, and is still popular among the white majority in a lot of the Midwest. The fact that it has become the “black” sport is a shame of the highest caliber.

There's one poster on City-Data forums who posted this comment about race realist Steve Sailer who wrote often about blacks and I thought his post was worth to share on KF.

Several years ago I came across a blog kept up by "race realist" Steve Sailer. One of the things Sailer goes on is "Blacks commit alot of crime because they are genetically predisposed to doing so". Now, one particular thing Sailer spoke on was the Black incarceration rate, by state. He said that Massachusetts was on the lower end of the Black incarceration scale. According to him, "Blacks were scared of the Irish population and were more likely to avoid Whites or not doing anything to them", basically playing up the stereotype of Irish people being aggressive and violent. He then compared Massachusetts to Wisconsin, which has one of the highest Black incarceration rates in America. According to Sailer, Wisconsin got alot of bad Black people because Milwaukee was ran by "nice German socialist Democrats". According to him, he theorized that Blacks would be better behaved in the South and in Massachusetts because "people of Celtic background knew how to keep Blacks in line".

I don't agree with what Sailer said and furthermore, I could disprove him. However, I will say this. I have to wonder if there are some people who pine for the days when Blacks were scared to go to certain neighborhoods, particularly in Boston. I wonder if some people pine to have a "tough White guy" constituency in their neighborhoods (i.e. Good Will Hunting, Boondock Saints, The Outsiders). When some violent crime committed by young underclass Black youths takes place, I have to wonder about who might view this as "this is why we need to keep Blacks away from certain areas". Not saying everyone thinks like that. Just saying it's something I wonder about.

While at the commissary yesterday, heard a child seated in the shopping cart, shouting at the top of their lungs. Could hear this child shouting all over the place, and the commissary isn't small. Felt like taking the hearing aids out, it was so loud, and I was never closer than twenty yards to the critter. Noticed a grandmother with one cart, then the child and child's mother with another cart. My guess - mother was taking grandmother shopping. Nobody said anything, not worth it. Looking at the grandmother and mother, felt sorry for the grandmother. See no real future for the mother and the child. Noticed they used the self-checkout, guess too cheap to tip a bagger.

Have heard plenty of loud kids at the commissary in my time, but this one was in a class by itself. Rest assured my kids never acted like that at the commissary.

Depending on the location of the cemetery, one can see some amazing graves/headstones. But it's also sad to see just how many people die young, from violence and auto accidents.

Six years of BLM Killed More Blacks than 86 Years of Lynchings​

In 2014, the number of black American murder victims was 6,095. Then, after the August 2014 killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, anti-police protests and riots began, federal officials and mass media sympathetic to rioters brought heightened scrutiny to police practices, BLM began its career, "broken windows" policing was curtailed, and police morale plummeted. The number of murders thereupon began to surge, never to return to 2014 levels.
The "excess" murder victims from 2015 through 2020 who were black -- that is, the additional black victims each year beyond the 2014 baseline -- add up to 11,005. Compare that to the number of lynchings during the heyday of Jim Crow. According to the Tuskegee Institute, the number of blacks lynched from 1882 through 1968 was 3,446.
Here are the numbers of black murder victims from 2014 through 2020:

The numbers come from the FBI, though the FBI report for 2020 was visible online for only a short time in 2021. Crime analyst Jeff Asher reported the 2020 figures before the FBI took the report down.
One might object that 2014 is an unfairly low baseline against which to compare the ensuing years. 2014 seems a natural starting-point for the analysis, as that was the year of Ferguson and the founding of BLM. But the homicide figures in 2014 represented an historic low, a fact that might make the "excess" death figures for the ensuing six years look artificially high by comparison. With the rise of "stop and frisk" policing, the number of homicides had been trending downward each year, with minor exceptions, from 1992 through 2014.

Virtue signaling is a hell of a drug

Technically virtue signalling is where something is claimed, but not lived out, not put into practice.

These people made the opposite mistake; in their attempt to help rehabilitate, they put too much trust and not enough territorial protectiveness into their choices.

They believed in these virtues enough to put it all on the line and paid the price. In the classical understanding of course they weren't virtues, but sins, as virtues are when you reach your mark like an arrow hitting its target. Veer off to one side and you miss (only pretending to help, virtue signalling), veer off to the other side and you miss (sinking your own ship while trying to help too much, self sacrifice).

Was it like a 4-6 month old that just figured out a new sound and wanted to share it with everyone or like a 5 year old?

Because when the little babies figure out sounds and start making them in the store, and other little babies start showing off their neat sound they figured out, it's funnier than hell.
