It's a show about pirates that was made by taika waititi, and its like his other comedy series, what we do in the shadows, but with pirates instead of vampires and not shot documentary style. I assume its attracted their attention due to being pretty popular, and if it does have lgbt moments in it (I have yet to watch it), they won't be super central etc. What we do in the shadows has references to lgb stuff, but its never the major focus/is often played as a joke.
