I think there is an important distinction between being successful as an extension of the EN branch and being successful in Indonesia. Neither takes away from their success, but it is a worthwhile thing to note.
True however that distinction is secondary to any notion that the branch needs "saving"
Success is success. Whether they are thriving domestically or internationally is secondary.
In the exact context it was brought up in, it is entirely not an important distinction.
Or beyond that this notion that they might only be successful internationally and "no one knows unless you speak Indonesian Facebook" if they do well domestically. flies in the face of the idea that Holofes opened peoples eyes to ID's power because such a belief requires you to think that people outside of a bubble are unaware of them which... doesn't really work if they are viewed like EN.
You can't "only be successful as an extension of the EN branch" but also be slept on and unrecognized pre-holofes. The two beliefs run counter to one another, the EN branch is far from unknown, and being seen as an extension of them would entail you aren't "hidden".
Remember when Moona started playing Minecraft with Pekora because of the "Hey Moona" arc? Back then HoloID is way smaller than now, even clearly losing to NijiID. Hell, there were lots of accusations back then that Moona leeched off Pekora and HoloJP
Also, remember when NijiID had a collab with a mobile phone company and releasing a special phone edition in Indonesia? NijiID did have stronger presence than HoloID, once. They even have their own local storefront way earlier than HoloID
At that time in early October (the "hey Moona" arc started on October 2nd 2020), which was about 6 months after debut for Moona, she'd hit 100k around the same time which that alone put her behind only Hana Macchia in Nijisanji ID, who at that time still hadn't even reached 200k herself and ahead of... the rest of their large branch. Even with today's numbers only 4 NijiID members have cracked 100k. So I don't know how to see that as "clearly losing" because even at that point in time, pre-pekora bump, Moona was a standout among ID vtubers and the biggest among Niji's offering was not that far ahead. (and hey look I researched all this without being able to read Indonesian, crazy isn't it?)
That's the thing though, the data is incomplete because almost all of the data researchers are EOP or Nips, and they certainly can't speak Indonesian for this case. And worse of all, the vast majority of Indonesian doesn't even want to research the data, unless they are part of the industry, by which point they kept it closed as a trade secret
Ok but again to go back to what you started on with ID3 "saving" HoloID.
You don't need to speak Indonesian to prove the statement false. the research doesn't even need to run that deep to say that's wrong. A retarded Brazilian that only speaks an obscure regional dialect of Portuguese is capable of looking at the fact Moona and Ollie cracked a million subs without ID3 and tell you that "ID3 saved the branch" is retarded. I know that you have to be extra stubborn because
@Scuttle disagreed with you and you two won't just hate fuck each other and get over it, but you're spouting nonsense at this point my dude.
So I mean like I said, unless those Facebook posts are hiding some bombshell your point here is really moot. If you've seen something of note than by all means share it with the class but just holding up that you're Indonesian and saying others can't read Indonesian Facebook, while providing no actual context or information from this source you're extolling the high merits of looking into..... doesn't really build a case for anything and just comes off like weird defensive powerleveling.
