The argument that 'I have to support Nick because he is the only one doing something' falls flat when you realized that most of the people that were kicked out of AF are still actively involved in politics and are still trying to do things. CWC, Patrick Casey, etc. More importantly, 'doing something' doesn't equate to some big online presence, there is plenty to do locally and offline to advance the ideas of AF. Look at it this way, AF supposedly has student outreach programs, but they were effectively abandoned because the people that ran them were expelled from the movement.

There was a big article in Salon about the 'New Right' which is basically leftists/libertarians that have realized that society has gone way to far and are now dumping their eggs in some anti-institutional power basket. This movement and those 'thought leaders' are apparently well studied in uni, are big into political philosophy, and are basically 'intellectuals.' This new movement would be perfect for AF to try and gain new members, or even subvert entirely, but Nick has expelled all of the people within AF that would be capable of talking philosophy and 'high brow' intellectual tripe, so he has no way to even reach out to any of those people. Patrick Casey would have been perfect to go to those conferences and try and get some ins, but he was expelled. I am not saying AF needs to be some high brow movement, I think it is beneficial if it isn't, but you need high brow philosophers within your movement to give it a backing, and to help subvert the existing intellectual class.

I will reiterate what I said earlier in the post, most of the people who were the leaders in those specific areas in AF have been expelled. And there is effectively no replacement for them. Is Ralph the new 'smart guy' helping to define the political philosophy moving forward? Is Beardson the 'strategy guy' who will come up with the complex plan of attack to actually take on the system?

The greatest leaders in history (that Nick likes to compare himself to all the time) were not the sole reason their 'movement' succeeded, one of the very important points is that those people were extremely talented at finding other very talented people and putting them in charge of various aspects of their regime. Napoleon wasn't just himself a genius that did everything, he put into power and relied on many others to actualize his many visions. Bernadotte (who later 'betrayed' Napoleon and became King of Sweeden), Murat, Massena, Davout, etc were just some of the brilliant Marshals that Napoleon put in various commands of the Armee, not even counting the various others he put in charge personally of various projects of his, such as the Egypt archeological expedition. Where are those people in AF?
