Despite all of this, something still stinks; the nadir of journalism, the anonymous source is present in this case. Who the fuck was this SCOTUS leaker?

They knew it would cause a political earthquake, and we already have squishes in the court.
It was most likely a liberal clerk trying to drum out outrage to get Kavanaugh and Barret to switch since they are the more swingy votes. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch are solid yes and Roberts and the Democrats (same thing) are solid no.

As a brief overview, Justices don't actually write their own opinions, they have clerks write it, the Justices tell them to make revisions and they do those revisions. I'm 99% certain a clerk leaked this draft. The important question is why. It's entirely possible Alito was just working with a female clerk born and raised in ultra-blue Washington D.C. who saw it and got so mad she decided to become a whistleblower. Or maybe this is part of a bigger political game?

I'm curious... do you let the supreme court cancel Roe v Wade to give the D a win in the Fall so they can try and get a Federal law allowing it?

Can there even be a Federal Law forcing states to allow it? I guess they can do it the usual way, no money for any states where it's banned.

Baris seems to think it won't have much of any pro-dem effect as he has done polling on the topic.

2020 already shook a lot of republicans about SCOTUS being hailmary pass to save us. If they cuck on this the republicans will have fully lost SCOTUS appointments as a turnout issue.

Don't get too excited. When Obamacare went to SCOTUS, it was rumored that it was going to be 5-4 to overturn, but at the last minute Justice Roberts changed his mind and voted to uphold. Roberts is an enormous cuck and will do everything in his power to not rock the boat.
That was rumored, this is supposedly the draft of the written decision, plus it isn't going to be up to Roberts, presumably it is Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Alito, Thomas, and Barrett in the majority.

Yeah if you read the Politico article, it says Roberts wants a middle-ground where Mississippi's abortion law is upheld but Roe isn't struck down. Which fits exactly with what @Gehenna predicted about Roe back in the beginning of December. If he votes against it'll just be 5-4 (assuming no defections).

Banning abortion is like banning booze, guns, drugs etc.
If people want it they're going to get it no matter what.
I reluctantly support abortion laws on this basis, because I'd rather they be done properly and clinically than in some filthy back room behind a nail salon.

I enthusiastically support abort law, however, for their proven, um, crime-reducing effects.
You can't stop stupid and poor people fucking, the least we can do is stop saddling society with the endless piles of human garbage they shit out nine months later.
I'd support mifepristone being an over-the-counter-with-basic-medical-check at every free clinic.

Just my 2c. In any case I'm goggling up and laughing all the way to hell with the rest of you chuds Chads.

I'm fine with horrible back alley, illegal abortions. Baby murderers can die of an infected uterus.

Further, Roe v. Wade getting overturned just makes it a states rights issue like it should be. It doesn't ban abortion, it would just make it a state thing, like it should be, and they can vote on it individually. Hell, they didn't even try to ban the banning of abortions with the national legislature. They might be able to pull that off. Either way, it's not a sacred right that is above politics, which is what constitutional rights are.

This logic is retarded because we still have a large amount of brain dead trash criminals pumping out kids. They have access to protection AND abortion in most cases, but they just don't use it.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

You can have abortions legal in all cases everywhere and hand out free protection (which IS actually common) but you can't make people use it. They want the coom and they want it now. You can't force abortions onto people - you can't force abortions into people carrying Hooligans and you can't force it onto meth heads. You also can't force it onto middle class MAGA voters no matter how much you hate them. You aren't allowed to tell feminist Heather getting rawed by 18 guys every weekend isn't a human right.

This is why I think a lot of the most gung-ho abortion worshippers are just closet eugenicists. They want to be able to force people into sterilization, to pick and choose who gets to do what. This might sound ideal on the surface, but...who gets to decide?

Completely inorganic. This feels incredibly manipulative; what the fuck else do the Dems have to unify over BUT this? I'm not one to usually get to the point myself, but there's a terrible feeling in me that this is exactly what they need to latch onto, generate capital, and get hands into the polling booth.
