One thing the Russians won't do is back down. This isn't some made for TV operation to protect US oil interests and to juice defense contractors stock options. Russia considers this a do or die proposition. Either they win or submit completely to globohomo.

Then it will be up to the west (Burgerstan) to decide if they really want to make another move. There is a non trivial chance this will end in some kind of nuclear conflict, over some decrepit snow nigger country that no one in the west really gives a shit about.

There are still some ways Russia can escalate short of a nuclear war. For example, they haven't cut Europe completely off from their gas, because they are hoping for a future path where they are both allowed to exist and allowed to peacefully trade with the EU. That possibility is becoming more and more remote though, as the US government gets crazier and crazier. Seriously, why start a proxy war only to immediately drop the facade that you care about poor little Ukraine standing up to big bad Russia and just admit this was all about taking out the Russian government from the start?

I wouldn't rule out Ukie op but honestly an ammo plant going off by itself is not uncommon.
Remember the "Russia is running out of ammo" stuff? People laugh but the numbers were probably valid considering estimates of quantities present at dumps near the border and expenditure rates. If they cut back on the northern offensive, started shipping ammo from other bases across the country, and told the factories to start working faster they solved the issue "predicted" by western intelligence.
Now the problem is, if you tell factories to double time it, at some point corners start getting cut.

I have been following the donbass battle pretty closely and have some general takeaways.

The AFU are clearly being overmatched by the Russian ground forces, the days of the meme tractors and the haha convoys are gone now. AFU positions are being smashed by barrages of flamethrower rockets and convectional guns while the Russian infantry and tanks close in for the kill.

The Operational Tempo is much slower, the Russians are in no rush and are happy to take their time. be it waiting for a prepatory strike from frontal aviation to open a position, or to starve out cornered troops like in Azovstahl

The strikes on Russia are not doing the damage the AFU has been hoping for, and the answering strikes deep in AFUs territory is doing much more damage.
Western aid is not coming in large enough quantities and is not being used well

The situation in transnistria could easily spiral out of control should NATO forces invade from the west.

Overall the Donbass is hell on earth right now, and the rumors of a actual war declaration, plus the rumors of NATOs direct intervention into transnistria could mark the war turning for lack of a better word, global. If the rumors of a general mobilization plus war declaration do infact come on the victory day. i fear the war might escalate to something that has been feared since the end of the second world war, NATO is only a step away from war with Russia, between the special forces teams, the aid, the embargos and the leading of AFU commands i am worried we are weeks or months away from a all out war.
