Not much point in playing this game and pointing fingers. As long as the West remains inconsistent in applying it moral standards, it cannot pretend to be a force of justice and virtue - and yet it does, very pointedly.

It is hypocrisy that annoys me the most, plain and simple.

Kosova is a majority Albanian territory which wanted to break from Serbia. NATO aided them, but there's an actual ethnic basis. The Donbass 'republics' (Russia has created other joke polities in territory it seized) are impoverished slivers of land with Russian speakers, same as most of eastern Ukraine, same as most of the Azov Battalion. The Little Green Men were Russian government funded, and the referendums met no known democratic standard.

Anyhow, it matters little. Putin has presided over the humiliation of his country surpassing the losses of Afghanistan in men (c. 15,000) and materiel in a matter of weeks as relatively little cost to NATO. CIA and other Western glowies risk only dying of happiness.

South Ossetia, Donbass 2014 etc. were reactions to Kosovo and Maidan, meant to show Russia stronk. Russia isn't and cannot stop taking Ls now.

Any politician using 'moral standards' as anything other than a flex, is a retard. All good politicians are hypocrites. Winning and helping friends is what matters.

In the face of disastrous polling on Biden’s presidency and the direction of the country under Democrats, there is one shining issue qwhere they think they see an opportunity. — The latest WaPo/ABC News poll on the U.S. response to Russia’s war in Ukraine has some good news for the White House: “The findings suggest that Biden’s policies largely reflect Americans’ preferences when it comes to the Russian invasion,” write WaPo’s Ashley Parker, Emily Guskin and Scott Clement. The toplines:

• “In all, 73 percent say the United States is doing either the right amount or too little to support Ukraine.”
• “72 percent oppose the U.S. taking direct military action against Russian forces, while 21 percent support the idea.”
• “Even among those who say the United States is doing too little to support Ukraine, 57 percent oppose direct military action.”
