I don't think it's a matter of her conning a neurosurgeon, moreso the fact that sometimes medical professionals (the shady/irresponsible ones) will perform questionable surgeries if simply asked or pestered enough. It's uncommon but it does happen. That's how lawsuits pop up and doctors lose their licenses, they do stupid shit too - just like everyone else.

Robyn obviously isn't a next level manipulative genius, I don't think anyone believes that.

Theres munchies every single day getting totally unnecessary surgeries. It's pay to play in America.

It is not a common practice, banned in most jurisdictions and considered unethical in most medical journals, and even your link doesn't describe it as you did. What you're imagining and what happens are two very different things.

You're telling me what you think I think and responding to things i didn't say. It was an example of how the surgeons thought process may have run. What might motivate them to perform a futile surgery. I never said it was common, nor ethical, simply that the concept exists.

I agree entirely that this may be a compassionate 'practice' case for the nuero. I probably would do the same thing if I were him. With the rise of home births and related injuries it is certain Luna's rare injury will be not as rare in the future. Perhaps he is attempting to pave the way for these medically abused kids to have a way to heal. There will absolutely be more cases. Luna won't get better, but perhaps he knows he didnt make her worse and that is a pretty decent 1st step to medical breakthrough with mush brain treatment.

Also I would die to be a fly on the wall to find out how our Empath found out the Dr. was camera shy. I cannot imagine her asking politely to take a photo- she probably bulldozed in with a camera and he had words for her. I would love it to be true that she got chewed out but is sugar coating it calling him 'camera shy' instead of 'instagram mom intolerant'. There is NO WAY she 'felt' with her magical empath powers his opinion on photos. Something happened. Wish I knew what, ha.

One way to look at it is, Luna’s case is pretty unique in first world countries because most people have access to and use Hospitals and Doctors and Prenatal care and Pediatricians.
You used to have to go to Brazil or India to see stuff like Luna. So this is a great opportunity to see how far Surgery can prolong her suffering, err, save her life. Her mother obviously is willing to keep torturing her, so of course she found a surgeon that jumped at this one in a million opportunity. Ethics has nothing to do with it. Legalities sure. This is experimental stuff. Robyn thinks it’s lifesaving and the bad doctors blahblahblah but mama empath here doesn’t care what’s really going on. It’s not a miracle. If they shunted and tube fed every water head in Brazil and India they’d look just like Luna, millions of little miracles.
Reminder Robyn tried to starve Luna to death, and knew that she never closed her eyes or cried for the first few months. Fuck you Robyn and Glenn.

Here he is. He practices at Children's Hospital of Orange County. He is fairly renowned in the field, particularly in the treatment of hydrocephalus. I suspect you are right that the shunt was an attempt to see if anything could be done. It's not like he could have made Luna worse, and it's possible her case helped him refine some aspect of the protocol for treating other children with hydrocephalus and brain malformations. Luna's specific condition is rare, and this is kind of a once in a lifetime chance for a neuro sperg.

Also, a lot of pediatric specialists are willing to push boundaries more than their adult counterparts because they go into the field to help children who are suffering.
