Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

An Alabama public health employee has been mauled to death by a pack of seven dogs as she was following up on a previous attack on a woman by the same canines.

Jacqueline Summer Beard, a 58-year-old longtime employee of the Alabama Department of Public Health, died on Friday in the savage attack in Red Bay, close to the Alabama-Mississippi border, according to authorities.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Ms Beard had gone to the rural area to follow up on an incident earlier in the week where a woman was attacked by a pack of dogs.


Investigators believe she was trying to contact the dog’s owner about the incident when she was attacked and killed by the same dogs.

The owner of the dogs Brandy Dowdy, 39, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and charges under the Dangerous Dog law.

Officers discovered Ms Beard’s mauled body when they were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Crumpton Road in a rural area outside of Red Bay.

When they arrived on the scene, they witnessed several of the dogs starting to attack some local residents.

Some of the dangerous dogs had to be put down immediately, the sheriff’s office said.

Officers then found Ms Beard’s body nearby.

The woman injured in the initial dog attack remained in hospital in Mississippi in a serious condition as of Saturday, reported AL.com.

A third person was also wounded in the attack in front of the officers.

The state health department paid tribute to Ms Beard as an “exceptional person” and “tremendous team worker” who had joined the agency almost 17 years ago.

“The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) extends our deepest sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of Summer Beard, after her tragic passing,” an ADPH spokesperson told AL.com in a statement.

“Summer was known to her coworkers as an exceptional person. She was a tremendous team worker and was loved by those who knew her.

“It is a very sad day for ADPH, and we ask that everyone respect the privacy of the family during this most difficult time.”

Ms Dowdy is being held in Franklin County Jail on the charges.

Under Emily’s Law, which was signed into law by Govenor Kay Ivey in March 2018, owners of dangerous dogs can be sent to prison if their animals seriously injure or kill someone.

The law was named in honour of 24-year-old Emily Colvin who was mauled to death by dogs outside her home in Jackson County.

fucking horrifying, i swear its not the first time either. These state workers need to either arrive armed or with a cop/sheriff for dangerous dog complaints [aka pibbles and their rose by another name breeds]. Postmen know when to just nope most times, why don't they?

I've given up hoping for these dogs to disappear. Even in the area I live everyone seems to have gotten one because of COVID and now they all that "pandemic puppies."

Fine. But MAKE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE WHEN THEIR DOG BITES SOMEONE OR KILLS AN OTHER PET.

Most of these assholes are judgment proof but even if they're not, many state laws prevent people from holding the owner of a dog responsible for the damage it causes.

Require ALL dog owners to carry insurance for bites, a poodle is going to be much less to insure than a pitbull. Failure to get insurance should create a rebuttable presumption of guilt. The problem will take care of itself.

Horrifying. Infuriating. But at least dad was a quick thinker, stabbed that fucking beast to death. There are a lot of pit owners where I live, and back in 2009 one lunged at me from a driveway-it ran at me and the dumbfuck owner yelled out at it barely in time, and it backed off. I've carried a small knife ever since. This breed should be exterminated. I don't give one shit if people try and raise them to be nice. Just destroy the fucking things.

Seems like her family would have a valid wrongful death suit against the state. That said you have to be fucking stupid to roll up to such a place without security of some sort.

There are a lot of pit owners where I live, and back in 2009 one lunged at me from a driveway-it ran at me and the dumbfuck owner yelled out at it barely in time, and it backed off.

The same exact thing happened to me when I was probably 10, taking a walk. I have never been threatened by any other breed. That was not the only incident of a pit threatening me, either.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City police have released the body camera footage from a pit bull attack Saturday night that left a woman critically injured and four dogs dead.

54-year-old Terri Cosby was walking in the 700 block of N.E. 29th when she was attacked by four pit bulls.

The body camera footage shows one of the officers running to the scene.

“Where’s she at?” he asks another officer.

“Right there! She’s over there! I got one. They went inside the house. I shot one, but there’s still one and they ran into a house,” responds the other officer.

The officer with the body cam goes to find the victim.

“All right. Where’s the person that’s bit?” he asks a witness.

“Right here, man. They’ve been chewing on her for like ****ing 40 minutes,” the witness tells the officer.

“Ma’am are you OK? Talk to me, talk to me,” the officer says to Cosby as she lies in the street.

At least one of the dogs comes running back out by the officers and they unleash their guns.

“Stay down,” the officer commands the dog who is still moving after several shots.

“Come on dog, don’t do this,” says another officer.

It takes 13 shots before the dog finally lies still.

“It was a lot of shots fired. I mean, it was like the 4th of July,” said Calvin Stevenson who lives down the street and was out there that night.

He describes a gruesome scene.

“It was like the dog had already ripped her flesh off and was holding on to the bone and just wouldn’t let go,” said Stevenson.

Cosby was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where her right arm had to be amputated above the elbow.

Doctors are working to save her left leg.

All four pit bulls are now dead.

The one not shot by police had to be put down for rabies testing.

I will give a little benefit to the doubt. I'm not going to defend pits here.

Dogs and other animals, when bonded to a human, often try to drag them to safety. Everyone heard what happened to the Siegfried and Roy. Roy flew into a seizure and the lion grabbed him by the throat and began dragging him off by the neck (according to HIM ).

The problem with other animals trying to drag a human to safety - animals are used to carrying by the scruff of the neck. Some dogs (golden retrievers, in the last article I saw) MIGHT grab a human by the arm. Add in a struggle to that and the animal typically clamps down harder. Could that have happened here? Possibly so. Even if it was trying to save the owner, the little bastard can chomp onto steel and has aggressive instincts. Combine that with a neck drag - someone is fucked - at that point, predator and prey instincts can kick in. Depends on the bond. A second problem with that? They don't know human anatomy.

What kind of life this woman can hope to live when the damage to her body is so severe that not even prosthetics are an option? The psychological damage, life long disability and constant pain is all that she has to look forward from now on. Death would have been a far more merciful and preferable fate.

How the fuck is anyone supposed carry on with their life with the knowledge that they were partially eaten alive?

And of course let's point out that the owner of the pits thought about sacrificing the animals prior to this incident when the dogs killed his chickens but the wife convinced him not to because she was sure that the dogs could be "socialized." God damn it, it is always women projecting the "I can change him" mentality towards shitbulls.
