Culture Nazi-themed wedding in Mexico causes a stir for ignoring Hitler’s genocidal past - Fernando, who wore a Nazi military suit, and his wife, who wore a swastika on her dress, revealed that their children are named after two famous Germans.

Originally from Tlaxcala (Mexico), they decided to carry out their marriage with a Nazi theme. They were married on April 29 in commemoration of the 77th anniversary of the marriage of Adolf Hitler with Eva Braun. The story of the now spouses has been narrated in a publication by Milenio, a Mexican media outlet that had the opportunity to interview them.

Fernando, who wore a Nazi military suit, and his wife, who wore a swastika on her dress, revealed that their children are named after two famous Germans. Reinhard Heydrich top leader of the Protection Squads (SS) or the so-called ‘Schutzstaffel’, and Hanna Gertrud a general and a pilot of the Nazi Army who rescued Hitler from the bunker where he was hiding.

The couple has received insults, criticism and even death threats for their love linked to the former German Army.

“If we had not found a date for today (April 29), we would have been married until next year,” Fernando assured and stressed that he has no plans to take his own life, as Adolf Hitler did one day after his wedding.

They also showed the “vochito” that they decorated with Nazi symbols and recalled that in 2016 they were married civilly in Ecatepec, also on April 29.

The couple say they are aware that people consider Hitler a genocide; however, for them the führer was a “nationalist man who returned territories lost in the First World War to Germany” and who was even loved by his people.

They stated that the reason it is seen in such a negative way is because history is written by the victors and they sell the “Hollywood” idea of genocide, racism and violence.

Fernando and 20 other people belong to a club that recreates war events, so the groom’s friends also had to wear clothing referring to German soldiers.

“I didn’t know much about the story, but my husband told it to me and I support him because I have a responsible husband,” Josefina tells Milenio and said that her family does not judge her.

The Mexican media describes Fernando’s attire: “Hairless to the Hitler haircut or to the Peaky Blinders, he carries a cap that has the emblem of the imperial eagle sewn; he wears a cuff with the name of the first division of the Waffen SS: the Adolf Hitler division; the Iron Cross and other runic insignia of the SS have been hung on his jacket; his hands are clenched with Viking division rings; Federica’s boots shine just like the tires of the vochito and he wears a replica made in Japan of a Walther CP99, Hitler’s and James Bond’s pistol”.

“Do you admire Hitler?” asked the newspaper, to which the boyfriend replied yes. “I know that for many people, Hitler is a genocide, a symbol of racism and violence. But people judge without having information or by believing in the history of the victors. Hitler was a vegetarian, he took his country out of extreme poverty and returned to his people the territories lost in the First World War. His people loved him. We’ve been led to believe that Hitler was a racist, but he came up to greet Jesse Owens at the 1936 Olympics.”

And he added that the word Nazi is a Hollywood invention to make it pejorative. “For me, the National Socialist, since I was 16 years old, that is, for 22 years, has helped me to have discipline: I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t have tattoos, I don’t harm third parties. Even in our club we are not recruiting people. It is a private club, but not clandestine, that recreates history”, she continues.

Have you had problems because of your beliefs?

-Since my father and my uncles are also followers of the NS, people have confronted me since I was a child. They have hit me, they have spit on me and they have even thrown the car at me when I am driving my little voice. The worst was the time they pointed a gun at me and called me a Nazi. But the beautiful thing about loving an ideal is dying for it.

Hitler reinvented the concentration camps.

-The United States and Russia had their own extermination camps, but we only know about the Germans because they lost the war and history, as I told you, is written and invented by the winners. I’ve always liked watching documentaries about war. Also, my grandfather was friends with German refugees. The truth of the war must be questioned.

And what is that truth?

-Of the Second World War we only know the version of the allies. We must read more so that we are not deceived with false stories.

What would be a false story?

They say that Hitler started World War II by invading Poland. But no. He only went to demand territories that belonged to Germany.

This is what I like of Mexicans, they can be so bizarre, almost like kitsch.

The average latin american can barely write their own name, but those kids are doomed.

just as embarassing as a Star Wars themed wedding imo.

I do think that it's inevitable that in a few hundred years Hitler will come into his own in the same way Ghenghis Kahn has, where he'll just be another historic figure who did horrible shit but has a kind of allure to him that people find interesting. Maybe there will be a pop song about a overly-possesive lover named after him too.

If eight hundred years is enough to get over the apparent deaths of 20+million people and brutal sex slavery, how long will it take for people to lose the human connection to the holocaust, about the same? So maybe by 2754 you could have a lame hitler themed wedding as a joke and no one would care. But a Hitler themed wedding after only 80 years? This is just way too soon.

Hitler will emerge from the hatred that surrounds him now as one of the most significant figures who ever lived. He had boundless ambition for his country, which rendered him a menace to the peace of the world, but he had a mystery about him in the way that he lived and in the manner of his death that will live and grow after him. He had in him the stuff of which legends are made.

This isn't the first story I've ever heard or read about Hispanics thinking Hitler was a cool dude. Guy I work with from SoCal used to deal with a lot of chollos and one of them had a massive swastika flag hanging in his garage. Eventually my coworker asked him, "Man, no offense, but... WTF?" and the guy answered, "Yo, he took on the world!" Something about his racial nationalist message and him doing whatever the hell he wanted appeals to some of them, even though they'd be outside his favored race.

It’s funny to see stunning and brave Lantinx Folx disregarding the picture liberals attempt to paint of them.

May they have a blessed Catholic, cis heteronormative, traditional marriage that produces the replacement level number of children.

Edit: I spelled “Latinx” wrong, only because it’s a word that shouldn’t exist. I’ll leave the error because it makes more sense than demanding people to modify their nation’s language.
