Butler County is big in manufacturing and those guys are not Dementia Patient fans, and tend to be vocal and disagreeable.

Lastly, let's look at the passion variable. Every year their is a March for Life in D.C. It's attended by a wide variety of people from high school kids (Nick Sandman) taken their by their school to grannies from care homes. These just do not attend in a trickle, they attend in mass. TL;DR: I've been going on motivational juice to better my life, but the juice has slowing been running out lately (both figuratively and literally). I dunno if I can keep resisting the black pill much longer.

I've found that in that kind of darkness I can remember one thing: If I give up, the bastards win. If all they want is a world of nihilists and incel coomers then the least I can do is not contribute to it. Right now I'm moving out of an urban bughive and into a small rental house in a quiet suburb, both to improve my sanity and as a prelude to wrapping up my responsibilities in this city and getting the hell out next year. We'll see if things are better a bit further in the sticks.

(EDIT: As to your complaint about media, I found some books to be great solace: Older ones. I discovered Rex Stout and despite mysteries not being my thing I've been reading through his Nero Wolfe series. Great fun, and Archie Goodwin is a bit of an aspirational figure, but I won't bother you with my ideas of the classic masculine ideal.)

I remember all that back in the mid aughts and getting told it was "Separate but equal" and therefore wrong, but you can work it in a way that isn't, just by Marriage Licenses become civil unions and the churches do actual marriages.
