Pippa's mom is a conspiracy theorist, Pippa's dad sounds like an autistic redneck, her siblings were also neglected and passed that on to her - locked her in a dog crate and all that. They probabley don't get together for Thanksgiving and I was honestly shocked that Pippa is still in contact with her mom, I guess that's nice... Parenting by only focusing on what you care about, guns and animals and the like, and ignoring both basic functions and societal norms won't do your kids any favors. Add to that Pippa is kinda weird and here we are.
Did the school system fail her, yes and no - can't blame them both ways when tactics to get parents involved were ignored like detention slips and the like. Did social safety nets fail her, yes and no again - Pippa has some redneck pride where she would lesser take a government handout like food stamps, which are fucking designed for her and any other person for whom getting them food is a social net benefit, and instead might eat the local wildlife. Maybe the money spent on food could have been allocated to proper housing where she doesn't have to wear socks all the time due to fleas... Though, she might have dodged a bullet with CPS where in the governments infinite wisdom only the most dedicated overworked and underpaid people handle some of societies most important cases. In Pippa's case the government is neglectful because it sells ruralites pixie dust about being self reliant and then neglects to involve them in social contracts. No wonder they hate and don't trust the feds. Did her parents and family as a whole fail her - YES. The only relatively normal one seemed to be her Grandma.
All that to say I doubt that she is a sexual abuse victim but more of a standard victim. Come on Pippa, you can make it! You too deserve to be a happy and healthy functioning member of society even if you don't believe it yet.
