A few more I will add:
  • No father figure or positive male role model in life
  • troubled relationship with mother/sister
Gibes and Lucas fit these two. Gibes didn't have his dad around the time he really needed him while Lucas seemed to have a troubled relationship with his father. Both Gibes and Lucas also have bad relationships with their mothers with Gibes pretty much saying his mom is dead to him while Lucas has talk about having Oedipal feelings for his mom and by all accounts his mom was indifferent to Lucas until he trooned out and became the "daughter" she always wanted.

I'm sure other people here have experienced what I'm about to describe, but in high school we all did things or acted a certain way that weren't tolerated by the staff and other adults there. But guess what, you had to suck it up and keep moving forward in order to live pahwsitively and pave your future in the way you wanted it without having any bullshit, that was in your control, getting in the way. Just don't make life more difficult than it needs to be you know? In the back of your mind you knew this was temporary and had to put up with it for the time being.
