Whatever it is that makes a person disturbed enough to go the trans route will bleed into other parts of their life. This is the kind of thing I think of when people talk about "normal trans people who mind their own business." Between this thread and the Munchausen-by-Internet thread, my faith in god is constantly tested. In what reasonable universe are these fucks actively killing themselves allowed to keep going while loving mothers are taken by breast cancer and beautiful children by brain and bone cancer?

I know on some level these people deserve empathy but I just feel contempt.

I thought about how many urethral complications there are with phallo and sought out some imaging studies. a urethrography involves putting a contrast into the urethra to get better images of the shape of it. in patients without suprapubic (above the pubic bone) catheters, they squirt constrast in from the outside. When they DO have a suprapubic catheter it usually makes more sense to do a voiding study, so they put contrast in through the catheter and take images while the patient pees. there are a mix of the voiding imaging studies and the normal kind.

I was having dinner with two of my former classmates tonight and showed them this post. One is a urologist and the other a general surgeon. What’s shocking is not that they saw this work as horrific malpractice (although they did). No, what shocked me is that they had zero clue that this was the level of incompetence involved with these procedures. They both told me they’ve been consistently told (although neither has yet had a “fully” transitioned patient, hence their lack of experience) by plastic surgeons involved in this work that SRS is essentially a solved problem. That the basics such as constructing a functional neourethra are so fraught with not only extreme, but multitudinous, complications confirms that each of these operations is basically just as experimental, and frankly unethical, as the one that came before.

Say whatever you will about trans people, most of them are not this out of touch with reality*. I'm more concerned about the effects of trans online spaces on people like this woman. It's obvious from her posts that she is out of control and spiraling (she posted about breaking a chair at work because of misgendering, refused to take any responsibility and blamed everyone else) and no one in the comments called her on it. Every post she makes about her mother is met with dozens of replies telling her to cut off all contact, even though she's mentally unstable, broke, sick, and has no other family supports.

I get the idea that the majority of people in most online trans spaces know on some deep unconscious level that it's a LARP, but everyone is playing along, and no one is allowed to talk about reality because that ruins the game. So much of what they write is just a performance for other trans people in the space (particularly when it comes to things like threatening violence) and most of them don't act the same way in real life because they know that would have negative consequences.

But when schizos like Torso come along who genuinely believe in all of it, there's no one there to tell them to put the brakes on. The other FtMs (who, let's face it, are overwhelmingly white and middle-class) just keep telling her "quit your job king, you deserve better!" and "cut off all contact with that awful woman, dude!" because that's part of their little online LARP, and this poor woman is going to freeze to death on a street somewhere and no one will care because they're still LARPing.


*except when it comes to which sex they are.

As someone who was born with a defect that was medically necessary to fix and had subsequent corrective breast surgery that I paid for out of pocket, why isn't that considered gender affirming as well? Why don't these men just accept the titties hormones give them like women have to? WHY are they so much more important? Women can't get breast reconstruction for free even after fucking CANCER. Also, to not put it on broken or blistered skin.
