Who are all these children with strong opinions on abortion? I don’t think I even knew what one was when I was 11.
Hey the current education system has more important things to do than teach kids grammar or math. They have to educate these kids on pronouns and abortions!

How will Straw Man ever recover from a zinger like that?

What kind of fucking comeback is that "excuse me men also commit infanticide" I mean seriously

The question of whether or not babies are being killed is clearly the secondary issue I'm sure that compassionate approach is winning people over

As shown by the last speech bubble, they really don't conceptualise abortion as the taking of a life. To them, abortion and killing a baby are two different things, categorically distinguished from each other with the assertion that one of them doesn't kill a human being.

Some of them might make exceptions for Late-term abortions, but also while tending to insist that they are super-duper rare, and on the super-rare occasion when someone actually has one, it's because she she/he/they had a very good reason for doing it.

Also they cannot (will not?) understand why other people see it in any other way besides them being brainwashed by Fox News or the Church.

Not so sure. I'd say that the framing here, putting the claim in a smaller font in a lower after-thought speech balloon, is significant. "Sophie" is trying to bury his lie.

He knows it's killing. He's too ashamed to make his denial of that obvious fact into his headline, so he says it in a whisper at the bottom instead.

I'll decide based on reactions to this post whether it's worth reviewing the rest of the book.
I don't know if it will ever be worth it but I for one wouldn't mind reading more of this takedown.

????????????????????
Mr. "I lean more towards being a woman than a man"
Maybe he’s talking about a cesarean section operation?

It makes sense from Billy’s perspective that he’d want to avoid the biological fact that babies come out of a woman’s vagina.

Belly.

The word is 'belly'. That's the colloquial term for the lower abdomen, and the way most children's media characterizes a pregnancy. "There's a baby in mommy's belly" as opposed to "There's a fetus developing in her uterus".

Which is an entirely different term from 'stomach', which is the organ used for digesting food. Maybe this is a weird translation issue (although it's hard to believe a translator wouldn't have picked up on the intended meaning and the fact that this implies that Sandrat, like many a Greek god, was swallowed by his parent), but I personally think it's a reasonably accurate reflection of Labelle's understanding of anatomy.

This really comes across as Stephie trying to change the subject so she doesn't have to admit that she supports infanticide. I mean the guy says it should be illegal for women to murder babies, not specifically babies in the womb. It feels like that's a fairly non-controversial statement.

I think it reflects the fact that he doesn’t really know anything about kids. My reading was that it indicates that Ciel doesn’t really know the facts of life. I forget whether this is set before or after he and Magnus started canonically fucking.

Or Ciel is literally a little shit.

Well like a lot of TWs, Billy’s just jealous and wishes he could get an abortion too.

Plus, “no one’s killing babies” isn’t going to convince anyone because that’s literally the point of contention between the two sides. Pro-lifers tend to think it’s equal to killing an infant, pro-choicers think of it as different. People screech about it being an “attack on women,” but I bet there’s a big overlap between people who are anti-abortion and people who think men have a duty to marry someone they got pregnant.

Not really. It's why they're so obsessed with getting access to kids. It's how troons reproduce, in lieu of having their own children.
If they like abortion on demand for any reason so much, we need a test to see if someone is going to grow up to be a troon so they can be aborted.
