Most autistic thing you've purchased lately - c'mon feel the cringe

RE: Pen sperging
My father turns wood and has made me a couple of ballpoints and a fountain pen. Any idea how I'd go about taking out the cheap innards and putting in quality nibs and cartridges?

If you're looking for fountain pen autists who can probably help you figure out how to replace the nibs the forum I found is fountain pen network.

To replace the ink you probably just need a converter, like that one guy said. It's an empty tube that plugs in where the cartridge goes and let's you suck in ink from a bottle. There are different types, but most cartridges have the same width opening. Chinese pens and Lamy ones use different sizes, but you'd probably know if you need to order special cartridges.

Try a cheap set of standard converters from Amazon. I like the screw up ones, but it doesn't really matter. If it doesn't fit it won't have cost much.

To use them, plug the converter in, dip the whole nib into the bottle covering the hole, use the converter's method of drawing up ink until the cavitey is full. Wipe off nib, screw on barrel, write.

Not all ink is created the same. Some ink is easier to use than others. Some is not meant to be used in fountain pens at all, like calligraphy ink or most iron gall inks. The Fountain pen forum I mentioned above has a sticky under one of the ink sub-forums that talks about it in detail.

Gouletpens sells samples of their inks for very reasonable prices. A sample is enough for about two cartridge fills of ink. Ink is surprisingly reasonably priced in general. A 50 ml bottle will last a long ass time.

Yes. They both write with them and collect them.

When you have a really nice pen and ink you love you find excuses to use it. I find myself writing more now than I did even three months ago. I don't do anything exciting either, but writing little thoughts is fun. Instead of using Facebook or Twitter to record something funny, write it in a journal. I may never read it again, but if I do, it's there to laugh at again.

The people on the forum I'm on though, holy crap. They have hundreds of bottles of ink, some of them have literally a thousand notebooks/pads of paper - fancy paper, because not all paper works well with liquid ink. Some people have hundreds of pens, some of which costs hundreds of dollars. I found a pen that costs $10,000!

Like I said: autism. And hoarding.

I've bought about five pens, different ones for different places, and three inks. That's about all I plan on getting. Maybe a couple more inks, one for each pen, but nothing like those other people.

The only FP I really want is a Connid Giraffe it's a demonstrator bulk filler that's long not wide, I use a fountainpen for my journal but I also have a Karras Customs Bolt MK1 and and Dark Sucks Ti that takes Montblank Fineliner refils I tend to use them when I am sketching something out or doing writing that doesnt matter but is going to be written in my proper notebook later.

I have a pair of Rotring 600 mechanical pencils 0.5 an 0.7mm and love them for sketching stuff, I am thinkinking of getting the 2mm version as well for other drawing.

I use those Clarefontain Age Bag a4 unlined notebooks, I got lucky and bought a 10 pack for half price and have gone trough 3 of them in the last 12 months with a mix of art, writing and various things, FP safe, really smooth and you can glue stuff in them without the paper going wrinkly on you.

I like the look of those pencils. Might pick one up. I do want to get some good FP friendly paper soon. The stuff I have is fine, but I want to try the good stuff.

Rhodia make some nice affordable paper, so do Red an Black but I've not tried them for FP writing, the paper in Travelers notebooks is great but it takes on a fair bit of moisture so it does feather after a while unless you use a really really good ink, I use the travelers notebook as my shop notebook with a my ball point or fine liner.

If you want nice ink at a reasonable price look at Noodlers - the guy makes some incredible stuff, I use Heart of Darkness and love it, but the Empire Red is a close second.

Has Nathan Tardiff been talked about on the farms? I think most people here would think he's really based, really autistic, or both. At any rate he's entertaining. A lot of his inks are designed to be as indelible, forgeproof and paranoid as possible. Also, some of the names and themes of them:

I don't think so, he's a strange duck but he makes a good ink some seriously good chemical engineering going on there.

I have that Liberty purple / American Aristocracy and it's a nice ink, lovely deep colour to it.

Nathan is indeed both based and autistic, from what I've seen. Brian Goulet has an interview with him.

Also, protip: If you buy a bottle of Noodler's Ink, be aware that it will be filled all the way to the top of the bottle's rim, so open it carefully.

This is how it should be. The strongest autist creates supplies for other, lesser autists. That's so much better than buying from a soulless factory.

I went to a community college for a short time and eventually transferred for the rest of my college education. I have merch from all of my later schools, but nothing from my old humble community college. They have almost zero web presence and the choice of clothing is borderline nonexistent. HOWEVER, they had a Diesel Repair Technology program T-shirt with a boomer engine block/skull decoration proudly saying the name of my old CC on it. I never wear shirts like that, but it was too boomer-cool (boomer-core?) to pass up. Bought one to be a work/exercise/fun shirt.

(Top and bottom cropped to avoid doxxing my old CC, lol).

A new CPU for my PC, a case, and new sticks of RAM. I plan to use my old processor for an entirely new build for my sister, and I think it'll suit her needs for the time being. I've been watching for deals like a hawk, and I managed to find out that a Best Buy near me does price matches with Microcenter (which is 4 hours away) and got the processor for a great deal.

I am very much not Asian, but I bought a rice cooker (need to cook rice as a side but am always running out of pots and crap). This mini thing is amazing and I can continue to cook messed up curries to my heart’s content and always have a bed of fluffy rice to go with it. 😊

If I had a family and/or was autistic about rice, I’d buy one of those $200 super rice cookers from Japan. For now, this little stud will make rice better than me w/o thinking, haha. 🍚

I'm not really autistic about rice, as I was perfectly happy with the rice my super cheap rice cooker cooked. But it's more "Ooh, fancy gadgets. We live in the future".
The ones from Japan is fine and dandy, but they look old. The Koreans are more up to date. Still haven't bought it though. Even if i have wanted it for a long time.
