The Russians (or Soviets, really, not sure on Tsarist Russia) in general are pretty big on show trials. Nuremberg was all them making a big show of parading the German wrongdoings in the war.
Well at first Russians were pretty contrary to trials, they just wanted to execute the Nazis and end it quickly (both as revenge and to not set a precedent, since they were very aware of the fact that places could switch in the future).

Tornado-G Multiple launch rocket system

This artillery rocket system saw action, including the recent 2022 Russian invasion to Ukraine. Rockets have the same dimensions. A standard rocket weights 70 kg. The Tornado-G rockets are fitted with cluster warheads with self-guided multi-purpose submunitions.

At last, back to war.

More Russian volunteers going to Donbass, note: these volunteers come from all places of Russia, they get trained in Chechnya, supplied with weaponry and send to Donbass.

Excuse me, what the fuck?
The group was founded in June 2018 by Rinaldo Nazzaro, who uses the pseudonyms Norman Spear and Roman Wolf.[4] Nazzaro was reported to have bought several blocks of off-the-grid land in Washington state, United States, in 2018 for use as a survivalist training camp.[5]

Nazzaro, who used to work for the FBI and the Pentagon, moved to Russia around the time he created The Base, and directs the group's activities from there. In November 2020, a feature-length interview with Nazzaro was broadcast on Russian state television.[2]

Rinaldo Nazzaro[edit]

Rinaldo Nazzaro uses the pseudonyms Norman Spear and Roman Wolf.[4][32] Nazzaro used to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as an analyst and he also used to work as a contractor for The Pentagon,[33] and he also claims to have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.[34] Nazzaro owned a security contracting firm, Omega Solutions International LLC. He is a white supremacist and a supporter of the Northwest Territorial Imperative, which proposes the creation of "a separatist ethnostate in the Pacific north-west".[32]

With his wife, Nazzaro resides in Saint Petersburg, Russia, according to BBC News; an apartment in the city was purchased in his wife's name in July 2018, the same month in which The Base was founded.[35] A video posted online in May 2019 shows Nazzaro, apparently in Russia, wearing a t-shirt with an image of President Vladimir Putin and the words "Russia, absolute power".[35] The BBC also reported that in 2019, Nazzaro was listed as a guest at a Russian government security exhibition in Moscow.[35] Some members of The Base suspected that Nazzarro was connected to Russian intelligence, which Nazzaro denies.[34] In November 2020, a feature-length interview with Nazzaro was broadcast on Russian state television.[2]
I knew The Base reeked of fed plot but this is the mother of all glowies.

wait what containment thread?
They’re coping about the Articles & News thread going from “Russia is going to win, ghost of Keiv is gay & haha dead Redditors” to “Wow, Russia is embarrassing itself, this is just like the Winter War & the Russo-Japanese War.”

Yes articles can lie, obviously, the Ukrainians are exaggerating, but it’s clear that Russia thought they would just walk into Kiev and then everything would work out, but it’s not going that way. That doesn’t mean that Russia will lose, but they’re being embarrassed, again.

They aren’t coordinating as well as they should, their equipment is in piss poor condition, they claim their ship sunk not due to enemy action but their own incompetence which is somehow not a bigger L, they had a meltdown about their active defense systems being bypassed by a weapon that was made in the late 40s (probably related to their equipment being in piss poor condition), apparently losing 9 generals and 40ish colonels isn’t a big deal, etc.

Russia being embarrassed isn’t necessarily a good thing. If they know they can’t handle fighting nations better equipped and trained then Ukraine, it increases the odds of them resorting to tactical nuclear weapons.
The korean war took 3 years and 2 million casualties to resolve. I don't know if that is the precedent you truly want to hang your hat on.
I find it funny how Americans often forget that the Korean War happened. Hence it’s called the Forgotten War. Your average Amerifat will answer when asked which war followed WWII with “Vietnam.” I liked to remind one of my Chinese roommates of this back in the day and it’d piss him off so much.

So the worst that could happen besides a nuclear conflict is that the Ukraine War ends the way the Vietnam War ended for the US. Technically it could be worse, Russians could spend decades in Ukraine and still end up giving Ukraine back to Ukrainians and leave billions in armament behind when they leave *cough* Afghanistan *cough*

I really doubt such results.
Even though Russian progress has been slow and at times embarrassing, there is no way they could have left Mariupol and Kherson. It's not Americans coming to gooks; these cities have about 50% (pro) Russians, which reduces the chances of sabotage and increases local cooperation.

Don't really know if this is relevant to this particular thread (apologies if it isn't), but I just came across this abomination and had to share it.
