For people just learning about Yuni. She's very sweet there. A lot more chill and is able to read chat a lot more than now on YouTube.

Before she joined Phase Connect, Yuni used to be a bit more unhinged. Kind of like a blend of what Yuni and Pippa are now. The very first stream of hers I watched she was screeching at chat like a gremlin, and this was back in mid-2020.

I remember posting here even that I thought she'd tone down her antics when she joined Phase Connect, but instead it's as if the exact opposite happened and it allowed her to go completely apeshit.

I have a few theories as to why that is: Having a company that pays you a salary and backs you if you do something stupid helps a lot, the western VTuber Twitch meta audience is full of trannies and social justice types, and she kind of fell into the 4chan/KF audience and had the sense to pander hard (not judging, it's a good move and you can tell she genuinely enjoys it.)

i just listen to this, since people used to call kobo voice range quite wide. and i too couldn't believe it either, yet the fact she often eat spicy food will ended up hurting her vocal chord. and i too just realized, that going into the music industry as a singer prolly suckass personally for me, cause you need to be cautious with what you eat.

She didn't make the owl model, it's a model she bought. Here's her VTuber mama. The others beforehand such as the original Yuni Luna moth character, Asyla, and her various others (the Zeraora girl for example) she did make in VRoid, however.

About this. The word "idol" normally refers to something people worship, something they literally put on a pedestal. It's related to the word "ideal", and I think that gets to the core appeal of these type of performers. They are "idolized" because they seem to embody an "ideal", the perfect instantiation of something normally perceived only imperfectly or incompletely.

(This is not to say the talents themselves are "perfect" people - obviously they're not - but they can effectively create an "ideal" public persona.)

The thing is, something can be an "ideal" without being "good". The Thomist philosopher Edward Feser explains this with the example of Glengarry Glen Ross:

So maybe Suisei with her wider understanding of "idol" is getting at something similar. That performers by holding themselves to higher "ideals" in their work can be "idols", even if what they're expressing isn't always "good" or "clean".

Yuni/Pippa responds almost exclusively to the most annoying, stupid or gross things I've ever said in her chat and mostly ignores anything thoughtful or reasonable I say. She might have an abysmal opinion of me but it's better then being completely ignored.
